Your not alone in being confused about Ubbes name. Apparantly his name is spelled/pronounced different in different sources. In "Last kingdom" (another great show about the same time period), hes called Ubba instead.

Having a small axe doesnt have to be bad, if you think about it a big axe is slower with a small axe you can dodge and quickly slash back
@ImonSnow6 жыл бұрын
DUCK SAUCE it’s not about the size it’s about how you use it. lol

A big axe doesnt have to be slower, a bigger axe is almost always going to be better in a real fight unless you're fighting in a enclosed space.
@andreigabrielion95756 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily, have you heard of leverage? A swing with a big axe, as in two handed axe, can be faster than a one handed axe swing. Also, longer weapons have more reach, which means you can strike your opponent while they cannot. There is a big misconception about two handed weapons in genereral. People think they are slow and heavy, but they're not that heavy (a Dane axe weighs between 1 and 2 kg) and because you use both hands and your body to swing, it can sometimes be easier than a one handed weapons. As for dodging, footwork is more important. The misconception comes, most of the time, from video games and movies. If you want to know more about this, I suggest you watch Skallagrim, scholagladiatoria, Shadiversity, Lindybeige, Metatron, they have great educational videos. A great video to start with is this one: Dane Axes and Housecarls by scholagladiatoria Cheers!

@@andreigabrielion9575 Definitely mate. Especially about the Weight part. Cause a lot of people thinks that a two handed Axe will be heavy but actually Its not that heavy. Can't say the same about Greatswords though , I mean Compared to two handed Axe's. and It also depends on the skills of the warrior , Cause a Warrior Which mastered the Two handed Axe can be much faster than normal. Same goes for all kind of Swords , Axe's , hammers etc , training is pretty much everything.

@@ImonSnow I don't understand all the fascination with big axes I think corn has warped everyone's minds. A average size axe should be big enough for anyone. Nothing about bid axes is appealing to me at all.

Harald Finehair (the new character they introduced at the end) and the Asian girl is some of the weirdest editions to the series. Historically Harald was the very first King of Norway after uniting several smaller tribes. But as far as it is know he didn't travel outside of his own country and wasn't that major of a player outside of Norway. Here they blow up his character to a much bigger degree. His introduction also makes the location of Kattegat more confusing than ever. Kattegat is a fictional town while almost all other towns are real, like Hedaby (Lagertha's town) is an actual town to this day in southern Denmark. Before this it was vague exactly were in Scandinavia Kattegat was but it hinted that aside from how the environment looked it was in Denmark since Hedaby seemed to be in walking distance from Kattegat. But placing it in Norway it makes the journey to Hedaby insanely long and almost impossible not to get there without a ship. As for the Asian girl it is a weird plot that kinda came out of nowhere and went nowhere. Vikings did eventually establish trade lines in almost the entire known world, but not this early and not as far as China where the girl came from. Seeing a person of Asian decent at that point in time would make people react in awe since she is basically rarer than a unicorn for them and would not be treated like a common servant thrall. (Minor spoiler) She only served the purpose of giving us some trippy and emotional visuals for Ragnar following Bjorn helping him through rehab. She also turned out to be the emperor of China's daughter, but that goes nowhere.

Kattegatt is an area of water between the coast of South-Western Sweden and Denmark. The geographic locations are kind of confusing since Hedeby is in at the time Southernmost Denmark, now Northernmost Germany and the Uppsala temple is in central Sweden. And they claim they're in Norway when Kattegatt isn't in (at least modern) Norway.

I think they just put her in there to explain why he was so weak fighting rollo and why he lost also they were supposed to kill ragnar off way before so that messed how they should kill him off up she wasn't important just simply put there to kill ragnar off

I know I’m late but they didn’t get the Asian girl from China, they took her from Paris. They explained that in the show.

Harald has nothing to do with Aslaug. The whole "Princess affair" will be explained later on. Also, Aslaug's lurking around seems to be justified, since Ragnar is going about day in, day out taking his servants to his secret (not-so-secret-anymore) man cave...No? "Takes one to know one": Aslaug, as someone who has both cheated and been cheated on, has become paranoid, vengeful but mostly fearful of her future alongside Ragnar. Makes sense to me... Plus, why must she be blamed for Siggy's death? Siggy was at peace with her own fate, her death came as a balm for her pains, her daily life of menial and humiliating labours and most of all, as a means to get back together with her family. She stopped fighting, she gave up on life. It was only a matter of time.
@ms_scribbles6 жыл бұрын
She's to blame because if she wasn't off fucking Harbard, Siggy wouldn't have had to take care of her kids.
