How swift and effectively Björn kills them is just so satisfying somehow. He moves like a god in battle compared to Hvitserk and Ubbe. Björn never wasted much energy in fighting compared to his brothers which means he is the best fighter.

I believe this was a strategy on be half of Ivars intellect. However he didnt participate in the fight at all. He took a 3rd of the army to wait. I believe that he knows what he is doing.

I think letting the Bishop go down (hurt but not dead which is a risky move) but eventually infiltrating them from within will be his plan just like in the chess game. It's also smart since King Harald will lose a great number of his men in this battle so Ivar will have more control in the battles and taking over in the end.

I think because he didn't see any sign of Hvitsek ' crews into the forest. So if he comeback, he could be flanked by the reserve enemy army and all will be destroyed. Btw from the start Ivar wanted to scout how many enemy 's squads in the battle. so he couldn't risk to join the fight.

@@kristofantal8801 haha, no not really :) as you probably realized, their shields are painted :) its not just some random colours ^^ usually peoples from the same clan, used the same coloures ^^ which makes things easier, if you are to recognize who is an enemy, or a friend ^^ :) and in case other "civilised" armies, like many at the time in England, used uniforms and such :) just take a look at them, their armor, and clothing almost identical with each other :) and again, it was to make sure, you actually killing the right guy ^^

Because it's a tv show and on camera it looks better this way. In real life they just put shield wall against shield wall, keep fighting until one of the walls is mostly cut down and then you run out to kill who's left. Medieval combat was very similar to battle tactics during the american revolutionary war except without guns. Just rows and rows of people in front of each other
