It's interesting to see the co-ordination between the three in the cockpit, in the days when there was a flight engineer on board. I understand nowadays automation and computerization takes care of many things and has brought down the crew numbers to 2 only, but an engineer on board as a third officer is still important even in today's modern flight deck set up. Improves safety and a third eye and hand is always helpful if any stressful situations arise . Those who fly will know.

Do Iran Air 1st officers ever get to touch the yoke or do they strictly operate radios and read off checklists? I haven’t seen a single Iran Air video where the 1st office flies any leg of the trip! Seems like the captain takes off, flies the route, and lands!

Very nice landing, but the captain made an error during landing checklist. At 1:48:56 he confirms that speed brake is ARMED. But later 1:50:28 at touchdown we see that in fact speed brake was not armed, and he had to deploy it manually when he noticed it wasn't armed.
@JohnDuffy-c3t2 ай бұрын
You are correct. The Flight Engineer reads the challenge “SPEED BRAKES. “The Captain responds “ARMED” but his right hand is still on the throttles. His right hand should have moved from the throttles and lifted the Speed Brake lever and moved it from the forward detent position back to the Armed position. He might have done this step prior to the Flight Engineer reading it, but I’m not sure. Upon landing there are a few requirements that must be satisfied before the Speed Brakes will automatically deploy. First is the landing gear must send an UNTILT signal. I am sure you have seen the 747-landing gear hanging down in flight. That is a TILTED gear (air mode), on the ground the gear is UNTILTED (ground mode). Then the throttles must be moved to IDLE thrust. With the speed brakes ARMED and these 2 requirements satisfied, the speed brakes (ground spoilers) will automatically deploy. After touchdown there can be a bit of a lag before they auto-deploy, so some pilots just go ahead and pull the lever manually instead of waiting. So either he did not arm the auto spoilers or he just did not want to wait a second or two for the auto deployment.

Interesting to hear the radar altimeter call out 2500’ during the climb when they’re indicating 7000’ msl 😬 Must have been flying towards rising ground, explains why the flaps were left extended so long and they did not accelerate for some time

i remember this treatment way back flying in the 747-200 going to the Philippines, mainly i fly coach but i flew business class a couple of times in the mid 90s using my miles and the service and food was amazing. This service reminds me alot of my experience when i flew on northwest frequently. We even had good meal service in coach for domestic flights. What has happened now to this especially in the USA and Canada is it just greed?

All Iran Air's 747s are either grounded waiting to be scrapped or already scrapped, this perticular aircraft, EP-IAB nicknamed Khorasan did its last flight in 2012 after 36 years and is currently in graveyard since then waiting to be executed. this is probably filmed in 2000s. all the crew in this video is retired i think. i remember flying with one of these exactly on this route(my first international flight), lots of magazines and no flight entertainment, they played something like a podcast during flight and there was audio jacks on the seats but so noisy that you couldn't hear anything. such good times

747 SP Cargo door operation is under the Belly as compared to the 100 20O 300 And 400.
@JohnDuffy-c3t2 ай бұрын
The SP has the same lower lobe cargo door system/operation as other classic 747s. The only difference is the SP has fairings on the cargo doors that smooth the air flow into the wing since the doors are much closer to the wing with the short SP body.
@RayhanAhmed-qr3vz2 ай бұрын
@@JohnDuffy-c3t this belly door system Was on the Syrian Arab airlines B747 SP were the cargo doors opened and closed the 200 300 400 had a flush that you pressed opened then used to go on to the pickle Knob to close and open the door and reverse To close by pressing the flush back inwards To lock The Syrian SP as far as I remember did Not have a flush system in the belly so you Went on the pickle switch to open and Close doors .
@RayhanAhmed-qr3vz2 ай бұрын
This was a same system of closing and opening Cargo doors of the A321 , A320 .
@JohnDuffy-c3t2 ай бұрын
@@RayhanAhmed-qr3vz All the lower lobe cargo doors, forward and aft, have a small panel next to the door where the electric switch is actuated to open and close the cargo door. In addition to the switch, there is a larger handle for opening and closing 2 small vent doors located on the large cargo door. This also varifies that the door is properly locked after closing.

The Iranian regime is returning a once civilised and modernised country back to stone ages. They are on the path of destruction. Middle Eastern airlines such as Emirate or any other airline have decided not to allow uneducated clerics to rule their country. By the way…. All the clerics in charge of Iran are lackeys of western and Russian powers.
