Oh my goodness TK not joke-the other day I was in Zara for a browse and I SWEAR every second thing is in green! 😂💚 I LOVE the FILA top and I love how they upcycled an old jersey and made it a crop top! (Proud owner lol) I wish more brands do the same thing! 🥰

I really loved your video and the tips that you gave on how to wear them without adding unnecessary pieces of clothing to our wardrobes. I personally like the grandpa aesthetic, i'm really into those brownish and warm colors and fabrics, and it's a good way of wearing and upcycling clothes that already exist. My least favourite trends are the bloomers, the flingers and the low rise jeans. I agree that low rise is a trend that doesn't work for many body types, I consider myself as a rather chubby or rounded person, and I never seem to find a low rise jean that fits me correctly! It is defenetly meant to be worn by skinny slim bodies, with flat stomachs. We don't need any more clothes that perpetuate that kind of body stereotype 🤷‍♀️

It’s so good to know you enjoyed the video and understood what I was trying to achieve-the idea isn’t to stop people from wearing trends, but to wear them without buying up too many unnecessary pieces. ❤️ The grandparentcore aesthetic is so versatile and it’s such a refreshing, comforting aesthetic for these crazy times! You’re absolutely right-it’s a great trend for recycled/upcycled clothing. I’m totally with you on low rise-whilst some people say anyone can rock it, I just don’t think it’s an aesthetic that was created with inclusivity in mind when it first started in the late 90s, early 2000s. I don’t really buy it.

Aww thanks so much Dari! I really appreciate it. I totally agree-the maximalist aesthetic is so rich and exciting but it does take a lot of styling effort to get it right. I think it's so interesting how the grandparentcore trend is on the opposite end of the fashion spectrum compare to maximalism but they're both going to be massive in 2022! Low rise is also physically uncomfortable with those of us with a tum. Its not that we won't represent the trend, its just really uncomfortable with pinching and button digging

1. My fave trend is def upcycling as it's something I've been working on in my own wardrobe! And I hope it's a timeless one at that. 2. Least fave would probs be puffer and catsuits, mostly because I actually loooove the bike unitards way better and puffer to me just feels utilitarian for cold winters lol 3. I saw someone comment this on another video somewhere else but they were saying that all jean styles should be accessible at all times. Like if I had high waisted jeans in middle school I would have been sooo much more confident but I don't think we should crap on low-rise jeans if some people do like them! But that also means that certain jeans styles shouldn't be reserved for certain body types! Jeans are so universal already so all facets of them should be around all the time!

I’d love to buy less and buy better quality so I don’t churn through as much clothing and create as much waste-it’s always a work in progress! Would you like to see thrifting content on my channel? Ohhh how did you style the unitard trend? I didn’t try it because I thought it won’t be flattering for me. In regard to the low rise trend, I totally agree with you-it’s not helpful to crap on a particular silhouette because certain cutting works on some figures and there’s bound to be something that suits one’s body type. My issue with the comment on how ‘saying low-rise jeans is non-inclusive = saying curvier girls can’t look good in them’ is that fundamentally, low-rise jeans weren’t created with inclusivity in mind in the late 90s/early 2000s. The beauty standard of that particular cutting and the media representation we saw (and are seeing in 2022 tbh) did not include bigger women or anyone without a flat stomach. I don’t know how people are supposed to feel comfortable or empowered wearing low rise if they fall outside of that particular body type… 🤔 It’s amazing to chat to you about these topics! I’m learning so much as I discuss through these comments. Do you think it’ll be worthwhile to do a deep dive on the low rise cutting? x

@@vikkipedia_org oh my gosh thank you for your response! I always love thrifting and seeing what people gravitate towards but it can be very easy to buy a lot and not end of wearing any of it, speaking from experience lol As for unitards I actually follow your rule of tight bottoms and loose top, so i like to wear a loose crop top or flowy blouse over a unitard! Wearilive has a great video style bike shorts from 2018 I think and I basically translate that to unitards. As for low rise jeans it's interesting because they weren't just a trend in the 90's/00's they were actually popular in the late 60's before high waisted bellbottoms became more popular in the 70's. But the style from the 90's/00's feels more controversial because people were styling them with fully exposed midriffs and whereas in the 60's that wasn't very popular. And I think that's where a lot of the frustration comes from because that specific pairing of pieces is coming back and not just jeans with a normal t-shirt. And so in that way you're totally right, it's a recipe for people to not feel comfortable in them if they don't have flat stomachs. If you want to make a deep dive video on it go for it! There's definitely a longer history to it and it might actually be really interesting once you research it and might raise some points that people haven't thought of before!

Bold colours are great too-it just takes a bit more styling effort but if you ease pops of colours into your wardrobe and introduce items that work with things you’ve already got, you’ll be able to play with some vibrant hues without having to spend heaps of money or buy a lot of items that won’t last! And I’m with you on low rise-whilst some people say anyone can rock it, I just don’t think it’s an aesthetic that was created with inclusivity in mind. So I’ll pass on that with you. Tiffany James 20 seconds ago I like the low-risers + miniskirts a bit but there def is a time and place 4 them. I wouldn't be rocking it all the time + def would prefer it 4 more hotter days. The reason I'm enjoying the resurgence/resurrection of Y2K/00s Fashion Trends is bcuz I was a bit younger when those sexy styles came out. My schools + parents were strict w' their dress codes + as kids/tweens we couldn't just go out wearing low-rises + mini skirts whenever we wanted 😂...but hey I mean we def tried. We wanted 2 copy all those pop culture looks we saw on tv Disney channel, Nickelodeon, even 2 match our Bratz dolls loll. I also have a slim tomboy-ish/straight figure + I'm not blessed with the curvy hourglass BBL kardashian IG model figure that's super in + trendy right now.....so naturally the Y2K/00s skinny, straight figured clothes or certain vintage clothes suit me more. Instead of trying 2 morph myself into something I'm not, I rather just embrace more y2k + vintage fashion. I'm also really loving Futuristic Trends, transparents + vibrant hued clothing rn. Great video!

I also went to a strict school in my early teens and we had to wear these thick midi skirts as part of our school uniform. Mini skirt would be a big no-no so when I started uni, I was rocking the mini skirt for the whole time as if I had to get it out of my system. Totally agree there’s a time and place for certain items. I love how fashion is retrospective and we’re now bringing back elements from the 60s/70s-2000s, which means a lot of these trends could potentially be thrifted! I choose not to wear anything mini skirt/ dress because I cannot wear bikeshorts underneath them. My thighs rub together to much and I would just give myself a rash. Does anyone else have this problem? How do you make it work if you wear mini skirts? It just seems impracticle for people who have larger thighs. Also choosing fabrics that are soft and breathable like cotton and linen instead of polyester will absorb perspiration and reduce the rubbing? But I’m with you-from a practicality point of view, some cutting and silhouettes just aren’t very comfortable and flattering, especially the micro mini skirt by Miu Miu that’s been popularised all over TikTok. your take on the lack of inclusivity with low rise jeans is.. so close! to the truth lol. fat women were put THROUGH IT. when low rise jeans were big in the early 00s. nobody makes low rise jeans for fat women, and even if they did, everyone would make fun of a fat woman for wearing them because when fat women show more skin, all the skinny people make fun of them and call them disgusting. the reason you dont see bigger women wearing low rise jeans is entirely because of fatphobia
