What Rick said partially in jest about JT and the Ryder Cup.... "how much weight should we put on 3 days 5 years ago." That really is the perfect way to put it. A guy has a good week or a good few days in 2020 and 2018 and all of a sudden he's branded the greatest Ryder cup player in the history of the game and now he gets an instant pass to all Ryder cups for the rest of his days. Meanwhile the majority of his Ryder Cup matches are team play events (fourball and foursomes) and the two single event he won by the smallest margin of 4 & 3. And I don't know the context because I partially watched them and don't remember the details, but I know the way match play works. You could play decent and your opponent can have a bad round and you win. You could also play amazing and run into someone who played out of their mind and lose, etc, etc (2 high level pro golfers facing each other in this format is like flipping a coin... go ask Tiger with his losing record while playing good golf). There's so much luck/randomness involved in this format and when you consider most of an individuals matches are in team play events. Can anyone actually say with a straight face that JT is good at the Ryder cup? He would need at least a dozen Ryder cups or more just to get to the point where we can analyze that as a statistic in terms of whether or not JT is good at the Ryder cup and even then most of the events are team play events, so there's so many variables beyond JT's individual contribution to keep in mind. It boggles my mind how so many fans/etc could be so dense in this regard. And if one thinks that JT is the match play extraordinaire... why does he have a losing overall record in match play (11-14-1). Oh, but somehow JT has this almost magic ability of rising to the occasion when the event is titled the Ryder cup even if they are on different courses and he's in a bit of a slump (which given the randomness I mentioned above he could still win, but you'll probably be getting ever so slightly better odds by putting someone in their who's playing better golf). But I don't envy Zach Johnson... he's in the biggest lose lose situation... especially since much of the public put an almost supernatural quality to the whopping two times JT played in the Ryder cup mostly team event/match play structure. It boggles my mind that so many people lack logic when it comes to analyzing this sort of thing. Once again there's not nearly enough data to say one way or the other whether or not JT is good at the Ryder Cup... not even close. And if you think so, then you must believe that Tiger is a Ryder Cup choker. Match play can be fun to occasionally watch (I would have to know the context of each match play to even be able to rate the quality of a person winning a match play event, besides the title), but just because some scrub for example (100+ in OWR or even a non pro for that matter), beats a top guy (which can easily happen) does not mean they are a better golfer than that person. JT's an excellent golfer, but people add the Ryder cup stuff to his resume as though they are astronomically bigger accomplishments then they actually are and they actually up his overall ratings as a player because of these random structured Ryder Cup/President Cup events. We should know better watching golf from week to week and day to day, just how all over the place all golfers are (shoot a 62 next day shoot a 75)... the best golfers just end up being a little more consistent but all golfers games are sporadic beyond belief even in a 4 day stroke play tournament format which gives the best golfers the greatest chance of rising to the top and even that is sporadic beyond belief. So the JT argument literally kills brain cells.

Also it's pretty presumptive to think that JT is this team leader/motivator? Who the F knows? I could be wrong, but he comes across to me as more of an introvert. Because JT has shown some energy on the golf course, especially when playing with his best man Jordan Spieth... people are presuming that he's the energy behind the US team. Maybe his teammates think he's a d*ck and don't want to be around the guy, which would be a presumption as well, But back to the whole JT Ryder cup thing, since I brought up Spieth. That is the best argument for JT... Playing in a team play event with your best friend who you've played with several other times in that scenario is a positive thing and can make something a lot funner/relaxing/familiar, etc. So I at least understand the argument in terms of JT and Spieth as team mates as opposed to JT having Ryder Cup magic.

I play in 6 different one and dones and all of them end at the BMW. My suggestion is to end at the BMW or to use the same payout at the BMW without starting stokes. Having the winner of the tour championship OAD get 7.2 million is not fun for anyone.
