Great comparison. Iv'e been thinking a lot to either upgrade my current 4k tv to another tv with hdmi 2.1 or go with this monitor. And I think my final decision will be the Neo G7. It has all the gaming features I'm looking for and this will probably be my first step to eventually move towards PC in the future.

Great video, love your enthusiasm. 😎 That AG coating on the G8 is truly next level and interesting to see that G8 was a bit brighter. I also do like the more streamlined design on the G8. Still there is a price difference and 165Hz is plenty for me after years of 10bit but 60Hz gaming so I have the G7 on order which I should get next week so will see for myself. I have the Alienware qd-oled on order as well as I have oled for main TV but I'm not too keen about the ultra wide aspect ratio. If the G7 will satisfy me and that curve is not too much I'll cancel the Alienware and my old Samsung S32D850T will get it's well due retirement.

I got my G8 Neo last week and Im totally in love with it. I switched from M32U to G8, the biggest difference is the Black color and the HDR. I havent spot any scanline issue like some others, but I do spot that pixel is visible on light blue & light green (desktop icon) but Im fine with it. And for those who owns a G8, get yourself a Ergotron.

Scanlines exist and you have the same scanlines everyone else has as it not a problem of some defective units. It has a source and all the g8s have this. It's because dp 1.4 can output max 4k 120hz so to get it to 240hz there is allot of compression happening at at 240hz scanlines show up due to the compression so you have them it's just that you don't notice them. It's less noticeable on the g7 just because it's compressed less to get to 165hz

***** Here is all my favorite settings list of both SDR and HDR ***** I tell you guys this Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 is very good monitor. But... You have to know how to work the options on the monitor itself to be able to get these visuals! But if you got the G7 Neo model then just try see if that good for you... This is very important settings with " Saturation " this give more color for to both SDR and HDR. Well, best settings is Saturation with 58 or 60 or 70. I use 70 for both SDR and HDR. Depending on which movies or games to run. See and test what is fit well best. Also important that " Local Dimming " to High or Auto. Sometimes better use with High and sometimes better use Auto, depend on. But you need use both High and Auto, However use often with High. If you like can use also with Low, but i never use Low. "Local Dimming" is important for both SDR and HDR. This thing has do with Mini-LED. You can change " Contrast Enhancer " On or Off, if you like it. " Black Equalizer " 13 is great but you can change from 9 to 16 or up to 20 if you like it. 9 to 16 is great " Contrast " with 75 and 80, 90 and 100 fine. You can change Gamma Mode 1 or 2 or 3. I use 1 and 2. Even you can change " Color Tone " I use Normal and Warm 1 and Natural. " Adaptive-Sync " is On this is good thing so you can use with G-Sync Compatible to enable if you wanna it. But make sure turn off V-Sync in game. If off G-Sync, you can use V-Sync. I don't use G-Sync due they are not support to all games also i don't need that. You can have " Adaptive-Sync " on and without use G-Sync and just enable V-Sync. If you turn off " Adaptive-Sync " You can use with " Response Time " and " Low Input Lag ". I don't use " Low Input Lag " Just keep on " Adaptive-Sync ". If you turn on " Adaptive-Sync " will work run with G-Sync or FreeSync. HDMI or DisplayPort both work to run with G-Sync or FreeSync. My " VRR Control " is On. Well better use with HDMI than DP. HDMI can get 12-bit color, with a lot color than 10-bit. But make sure set on output color depth 12-bit SDR in PC. This monitor model HDMI 2.1 get only 120Hz max at 4K. If guys wanna run with DisplayPort at 240 Hz but get only 10-bit color. This monitor support 12 bit color, That Amazing... If you run HDMI on PC and don't forget turn off HDMI audio in Nvidia Control Panel or in Sound Control Panel, If you wanna use from motherboard audio ports or PC sound card. If you have problem monitor like when is flickering or glitching or other just turn off power in OSD buttons then turn on power. If this not help then just restart PC in Windows. Then is all good again. I think DP is better than HDMI for that Samsung Neo Odyssey G8. Almost zero issues for flickering or nothing at all. I think HDMI got more issue. This is just small problem, not big deal. I did try only with PC Windows DP & HDMI. I don't know about with Consoles at HDMI if have problem with flickering or other. I did read from someone comment and he said about Scanlines problem.. =========================================================================== What i learned watching hours of reviews 240HZ = GAMING ONLY (Scanlines are not noticeable while gaming ) 120HZ = OFFICE WORK / VIDEO (Eliminates scanlines) *Get used to scaling your MONTIOR depending on the type of work you are doing. *SWITCH TO 240hz while GAMING * SWITCH TO 120hz while doing OFFICE WORK =========================================================================== You know that settings on SDR will have different settings save from HDR on, If you run HDR will have other settings save. So you can have two options SDR and HDR settings for saves. Great right? ---- Like Viktor say: You have to know how to work the options on the monitor itself to be able to get these visuals! i went to my local store to see the neo 8 in person. i think my decision will stay with the neo 7 as in the UK from currys its 300 quid cheaper at £1,000.00. i dont think i would even utilise the 240hz option and the videos on scan lines have me worried when doing work on the monitor. thank you for this review!

My brother and I sold our current monitors, he had a G7 and I had Asus Vg27lq1a. We both got the Neo G7, not received yet, I hope Mini leds impress me. But the biggest thing is that we got the Neo G7 for around 500 Usd only, a friend has samsung employee discount going on. So im pretty happy

Interesting that Samsung G8 Neo is generally brighter than Samsung G7 Neo. It is hard to justify the difference in price ($1500 vs $1300 without promotion and 240 hz vs 165 hz, less reflections vs more reflections). Samsung G9 Neo sustained brightness is around 700 nits (1011 firmware) and highlights must be generally brighter. It may be due to the fact that in it there are more mini leds per square inch and in total. Samsung G8/G7 Neo are better for console gaming and TV shows, photo design though.

Hi friend... Presets try cinema, rts, custom As the black equalizer can be changed if you need more or less as you change presets. Cinema/RTS/Custom 90 Brightness 70 Contrast 56 color saturation 56 Sharpness Response standard Black equalizer 11-13 (depending on preset) Local dimming off (not needed for golf or movies)

Been running the g8 for a week now. It’s definitely bright even gaming in a bright sunlit room. As for scanlines, I’ve tried 120hz 240hz and 60hz. Compared side by side with my previous xg27aqm and I just don’t see any. I truly don’t think I have any scanlines. Also a tip if 32” is “too big” for gaming, run it in 21:9 mode. It’s perfect at that size and the black bars are unnoticable

Thx for the review! Does the semi matt coating of the neo G7 make the text to be more clear or crisp than in the matt neo G8? According Rtings it's slightly better in neo G7 but since you compared both side to side, is that noticiable? I'm considering this monitor for home office as well and apart of the text clarity, I'm concert by the reflection and it seems the coating of the Neo G8 handle that better. Did you notice the difference in desktop use?

What I can do is record a blubuster text test and Showcase some text on both. The matte screen may be less clear because it really is strong. Let me test better to make sure.. I'll work on it soon.

@@ViktorsReality i did the test by myself , ordered both and well, yes, the g7 it's more clear and crisp. so for home office maybe would be better the g7, but in other hand the g8 coating it's handling a bit better the reflections. so, you cannot have everything, but the g7 is cheaper...

@@ViktorsReality Download free intellij idea community edition, open new project, drag it to the left side of the screen, open new project, drag it to the right side of the screen, add 2 lorem ipsum text files somewhere inside and open them in each IDE. Snap 1st photo. Replace left ide with an internet browser. Snap 2nd photo. That's all, 2 pictures with a short comment of whether you find it readable, of the curve makes it hard to read, would be completely sufficient to present the usecase to a coder :) (as other image creatives would probably prefer flat IPS). Would probably fit in a community post, just to present the productivity side of the monitor for people (like me) who never had the opportunoty to work with 32" 4k curved monitor :) But I'm not pressing on it, that would just be a cherry on top, I'm already pretty much decided on the G7, just got to wait for it to be released in Europe :). So if I had the room, what would be better, the Neo G7 or the Aorus FV43U for color, vibrancy and even dark scene gaming? I'm pretty unimpressed by the GQ950 from LG. It's so gray and the HDR is finicky to get working. Either you get HDR for regular youtube and computing or you get gray for gaming. The FV43U is on sale rn for $679 too, so that's probably what I should get.

I bought the 43" and 32" Neo G7 and I like them both but i definitely prefer the smaller one which is in bedroom and the larger one is in my office. However I still prefer OLED to watch movies or play games and I like LCD to work on.

It's a bit odd that HardwareUnboxed's Neo G8 sample is a tad dimmer than the Neo G7 but in this video the Neo G8 is a bit brighter. I think HWUB had a really bad sample of the Neo G8 because it even had burnt marks, might be a returned copy. It's just monitor lottery I guess.

Who knows, supposibly on rtings the people who can see reviews early say it wouldnt even pass hdr 600 or 400.. thats its bad hdr and dont even get past 800 brightness

So far I have my 2nd Neo G7 coming this wk. But other friends who have both say the Neo G7 is lower in brightness too. Remember the HWU and rtings calibrate before testing. We just show and can see full power. The G8 is brighter so far but again Im waiting to see my 2nd Neo G7 to confirm

You should try switching to Windows 11, HDR is much better on desktop use, Windows 10 did have that washed out look on my LG 27GN950 on desktop until I switched over to Windows 11. Also Windows 11 has auto-HDR which turns SDR games into HDR, almost making older games look like a remaster.

Ah I didn't know about that new things on Windows 11. I am trying out on Windows 11 with 32gp850, of course it is ips it doesn't get as dark contrast as VA gets but for reason of needing IPS for photo editing as well due to wide viewing angle. So I might test out HDR on windows 11 to see for myself.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the G8 seems to be either slightly in less focus or maybe not split evenly for the viewing angle. I noticed the gun seemed blurry in Destiny 2 vs the G7 and then rewatched a few other things and now I can't unsee it. I was debating on returning my G8 and getting the G7 instead in hopes of better panel lottery + slightly better clarity with the semi-gloss screen but now I'm not sure again because you've made a lot of good points. What did you think of the clarity in and out of gaming for these two compared? (hoping it's the camera)

@@chrisbullock6477 it’s because of the poor viewing angles of VA, if u sit in front of a flat 32 inch VA, the picture quality would suffer, that’s why even gigabyte decided to give their M32UC (VA) a curve, while their IPS model M32U is flat. And Samsung also gave their 4K G70a IPS a flat panel, while all their other VA Panels (G7, Neo G7/G8) are curved. And this is the only reason, because there are some people saying that you can’t curve a IPS panel, which is not true because almost all ultrawide IPS panels (34gn850, 34gp950) are also curved.

Is there anyway we can calibrate our "Custom" Settings on the Neo G7 to get HDR to show good on windows? I tend to use the cinema preset the most, but was wondering if there's anyway to get HDR to show a bit better by maybe tweaking some settings on the custom preset.

What I usually do this in windows on an LG monitor thru the nvidia control panel. Add some brightness and contrast. I would not go over 60 (50 is default) to not clip but I would say look at a cloud scene and adjust accordingly.

Hey so I got the NEO G7 and it doesn’t have the HDMI 2.1 option under input version. Where do I find the 2.1 option? Also, what do you think about the RPG vs Cinema picture mode with the color enhancer on? Will those settings increase my input lag? I know that’s a lot to digest lol

Don't worry about the 2.1 vs 2.0+ option. Both Neos on mine are 2.0+(arrow) the Rts , rpg vs cinema is great. We get more black equalizer control on rts rpg etc. I just say cinema because it quick. But I will get into more settings but I do use rts for now. Don't worry on input lag. The response times are on standard with vrr on and off. By me changing settings I have not seen or felt any lag by switching presets. Low input lag mode on will give you the fastest possible connection. Contrast Enhancer helps too. Try it on and off. Whatever gives you the picture you want is what counts. I use it sometimes. I just need to get the black equalizer correct first I we don't we will get lot of crush.

Im tossing up between the neo g7 and the m32uc, I play on console both xbox series x and ps5 , im coming from a flat 32 inch so I'm not sure how I'll feel with the 1000r curve from the neo but it looks very appealing, im just concerned about the flicker I've been reading about and as you keep saying its very expensive monitor. The m32uc isn't as expensive but it's obviously less superior to the neo so I don't want to miss out , any advice?

The m32u/m32uc are great. The Neo g7 is a mini led powerhouse. But it all depends on what you need. If you think the curve is too much on the Neo G7 and the flicker may appear then its safer to get the m32uc. It's too expensive right now and Samsung even announced the new g6 and g7 and those have smart features... I say get the m32uc at a great price and wait to see when or what Samsung improves or updates the Neo line.

I have seen and my friend that has a Neo G8 that by enabling gsync compatibility fully on the desktop it removes the scanlines but I can't be 100% on every monitor. I have another Neo g7 coming soon to test 2 Neo g7s to make sure on quality control. My Neo g8 has no issues and looks brighter. Idk... it's tough.. I say if you don't want rhe extra Hassel of maybe seeing scan lines get the Neo 7. The panel lottery is real on these monitors

The Best true hdr gaming is on the aw3423dw. But for sdr the Neo G7/8 are nicer and brighter. The QD-OLED aw3423dw really is the best hdr I have ever seen.

AW3423DW is better for HDR...keep in mind it will turn itself off if your the kinda person like me you just leaves their PC and monitor on and randomly goes AFK I think I'd prefer the Samsung G8.....the QD-Oled just has niggly little annoyances that would get to me over time ...also VA or IPS use a lot less in power consumption

I don't have the Neo G9 friend. Think of it this way. Cut the Neo G9 in half to 32" and that what you get as the zones are close to halving the Neo 9. Hardware unboxed seems to think the HDR is better on the Neos 7 and 8 vs the 9. It can go higher. Maybe I will get the New B version of the Neo 9 in the future...

Mine does and I love the monitor but if people are getting units without any scanlines at all then I'm considering purchasing another G8 to see if that one is any better? Both runnin 1003 firmware

Try local dimming high to see if it looks the same. But I can't run hdr on pc on either Neo 7 or 8 due to it looking washed out. Need a firmware or maybe it's my pc...

Tell me im looking at this wrong. 1. I like that the samsung has an audio jack and blue tooth. Does the dell have it? 2. Samsung can go much brighter. Is the dell bright enough tho? My room is right beside a window so im worried dell wont be bright enough since it has a glossy finish. 3. With some tweeking, can the Samsung come looking as good as the dell? In conclusion, the blue tooth, jack and brightness plus the 1000r curve points to Samsung as the winner. Now dell has better color. But if Samsung can be tweeked. Does that mean samsung is still better?

These are brighter then the QD-OLED in sdr by a mile. But in HDR the Alienware is better. Not miles but it is noticible in true HDR content. Hdr Doom Eternal etc. Again OLED true contrast with peak highlights really show off on the QD-OLED

I own one Neo G7, but I have noticed there are some "stains" like marks on the screen and they are everywhere (not just in a certain area), and it is especially noticeable when using white or other light color background. I am not sure if the marks are actually the matte coating itself, or maybe it was something wrong with my unit? anyone have same experience?

The AW3423DW wins in hdr. But I prefer the Neo G8 in SDR. Now the 7 vs 8 issue. It all depends on the look you want. The 7 looks great 2 ppl wide while the 8 you need to be centered. 165hz is more then enough for 4k. I have a 2nd Neo 7 coming to see if it brighter then the one I have currently..

I kinda feel sorry to retire my venerable trusty 15ish years old Samsung Syncmaster, but the Neo G8 is just so incredible. My only gripe is the curve. Just in case people aren't aware....in Windows 10, you can do more than just turn HDR on/off. If you click HD Colour Settings, you can increase the SDR brightness and saturation when HDR is switched on. Changing from 50 to 80 makes a massive difference for me.

Both Neos 7/8 are very good. The LG Ultragear 32GQ950 is good only if you put the hdmi input on low for a better picture. Did you need a monitor? As the 43 QN90B is very good for both. The Dell G3223Q is very good but if you can find the Gigabyte m32u at 599-699 it's the best option. Lots of value

It's different and the immersion atv32inchs. I always thought 27 was just too small for that. According to samsung the 1000r is so your eyes are always at the same point on screen nomatter where you look. I just look at it from an immersion gaming perspective

the G7 is a terrible monitor for cod , it's not bright enough, and players with rose skin or any dark suit will sneak up on you from any dark corner. instantly returned the monitor to Samsung. lG UG will probably be my next monitor to try out as they seem much brighter.

For me the main negative point is the noticeable blooming with high local dimming under windows hdr mode In games and KZbin. In other hand low local dimming is a little bit greyinish instead inky black. All the rest it's perfect for me, even colors are better in bright mode than oled. I'm testing now neo g7 and neo g8. Both are almost the same in picture quality. I will update my final conclusion after 2 weeks

It's a form of measuring brightness. If you ever see reviews pay attention to the 50-75% as we never really have a full white screens while gaming. But I can see that used for work etc

Like that comment on another one of your videos the other day someone was worried about the abl of this monitor and i tried to tell him its not nearly the concern it was on an oled and this shows that. If this very tame abl is a concern at all for someone like this on desktop only then the simple answer is to use auto or low local dimming and its gone completely, but then you miss out on those awesome highlights
