IT WORKS!!!!!! I got tinnitus about seven months ago. A friend told me it existed and I was so choked that I made the mistake to check if I had it at night. From that point on, my life was invaded by extremely annoying noises in both my ears that I had never noticed before. They grew louder every day and I started panicking seeing that all the sources online said it had no cure. I got depressed and anxious thinking it was for life. I went to the doctor to check it. I had no hearing loss, so he washed my ears and some of the noises disappeared, but a constant whistle persisted in my left ear. I tried B vitamins and it got a little better, but not enough to give me my peace of mind back. So I tried Yoga, Chinese medicine, some tinnitus apps… But nothing really worked. And then I found this video. I decided to take it seriously and would never stay in silence. When I got home, I would put on some music. When I had to go to a room without music, I would sing or talk to myself. At night, I would listen to podcasts before going to bed. When I woke up, I would get out of bed right away. At first, I would always think about my tinnitus. I was afraid to stay in silence and hear it again. But I was doing my best to constantly DISTRACT myself paying attention to the next thing that would come to my mind. About a week later, it started to get quieter. Then I had to resist ALL the temptations to check if it still existed. Now, about a month later, IT’S NOTHING. Even in silence, I forget about it. And I'm sure it will get to the point where I won't be able to hear it at all. I can’t thank you enough, @VikVeerENTSurgeon. You saved my mental health, I meant it. And for people struggling with tinnitus, please stay strong. I was never into meditation or anything like that, but I've learned that you can control your mind. :)

@@panayotpetkov8949 the point of listening to music/podcasts is to distract yourself so you won't pay attention to your tinnitus. if you stay silent paying attention to it, your brain will think you want to hear it and keep making it louder. it's well explained in the video.

You can heal cancer, autoimmune disorders, eye sight, cavities and chronic illnesses. It’s all about what you put into your body food wise, and what you put on your skin organ. Also has to do with movement and less screen time. How you live affects your health. All the medical books have it listed as prevention but it’s also how you reverse many things. Reversing inflammation by not eating inflammatory foods and additives. Very new world of medical coming to the Americas in the next decade or so. After many sleepless nights, and weeks filled with anxiety, i finally found this video. For the last 2 weeks, i always turned on the radio when i got home, and taught my brain to pay attention to the foreground, and not the background of what i hear. I can now comfortably say that THIS VIDEO is the cure to tinnitus. Even when i slightly hear it, my brain immediately switches to listening to something else again. I have shared this video with others that i know suffer from it, and it is helping them steadily as well. Looking forward to my tinnitus being completely gone in a few months. I listened to your video yesterday and it gave me hope. More than that; i had a wonderful night and even feel some relief. You're right: i'm convinced our brain can make a filter. Since yesterday i keep saying to my brain i'm not interested by this sound and try to focus my attention on all other sounds around me. I want to educate my brain to focus on other sounds. If my brain can learn how to play guitar it can learn listening to other sounds. Believe it or not, this night i woke up briefly and got the feeling my tinnitus was one tone lower. Now i'll use every moment to tell my brain "i'm not interested" and push him to focus on all other sounds, and there are many, always and everywhere. I haven tinnitus since 2019 with a strong increase for 4 weeks since a difficult emotional moment. There is hope and our brain is a tool we can use. I need to work on focus and attention. Let's not give to tinnitus the place it want to take in our life. Thank you for this video.

This tone was constant for months and i was afraid i was going to live with this forever, but now.... 4 months later the tone is completely gone. This finally makes sense to me. My tinnitus started about a year ago. About 3 months in with my tinnitus I had already gone to an ENT and there was nothing they could do. I had no signs of hearing loss. However, I was drawing using an app on my iPad one day and after drawing for about an hour I stopped to go get a drink of water and noticed my tinnitus almost completely stopped. It went down in volume 95%. I ran to my wife and told her and was super exited but over the following week it gradually got louder until it was back where it was. After seeing this I think I’ll go back to drawing again. My mind is really focused when I draw but I never made the connection. Now this whole video makes sense. Thank you so much for making this video! I've had tinnitus for over a year. It got worse recently after a hugely stressful period,. When I started researching it, MOST of the search results brought up that it's not curable. Thank you for giving a better answer to that. It's only 4 days after watching this and the sounds is disappearing. It's getting duller and sometimes isn't there at all. I didn't watch whole video, it was the explanation that there are sounds that exist all the time that we just don't hear because we've trained not to. This made so much sense to me. I practice meditation and have stopped fixating on the sound as a thing to panic about. Instead, I try to listen very closely to it. I try to dissect it see if I can find it's source. This seems to be weakening the connection!

This has been the most helpful piece of tinnitus content I've seen on the internet since I started dealing with it after airplane barotrauma a few months ago. The advice is simple: if you make an effort to focus on your tinnitus less, your brain will start to screen it out. In my case, it's worked better and faster than I could have dreamed of.. Within 1-2 days of putting this advice into practice, my life had transformed to "back to normal". The sound is still there if I seek it out, but most of the time my brain has hidden it from my perception. It's like a shortcut to habituation... or rather, I would guess that my obsession in constantly checking my tinnitus had been holding habituation back. Thanks for the free advice Doctor Vik!

I have tinnitus for six years (more or less) and definitely the solution is to stop giving any importance to it. Anytime I think about it it comes back. Actually watching this video made my ringing a lot louder than it was before I watched it. I don't think I ever had some time without it, but the sound can get so low sometimes that I don't even noticed it. It's manageable for sure. Don't think it's the end of the world. Just stop caring about it and eventually it will die down. The moment you start giving it any attention, it will come back and annoy you.
@MrArdhn2 жыл бұрын
Only people with high awareness can hear the ringing. Ringing is a very loud or low sound, it does not matter, it is in all people. if you focus on the ringing, you'll get in trouble with it. it's just like taking the breathing out of automatic mode. If you think about breathing, your automatic breathing will stop.
@tomchang32 жыл бұрын
It's your body letting you know to focus and let it ring, and find out what muscle groups are around that ringing. For example, right now, I can hear the ringing but mentally, try to feel for it in your head and tell that muscle manually MOVE / RELAX / DRAIN / DRAIN DOWN TO MY THROAT!!! because the automatic system is not working. Try it and let me know because it sure worked for me (still ringing, but I can feel the blockage clearing up). Feel your throat fill up with junk. -- If you ignore it, then in a way, the sensation is dying, and the nervous system is not reporting back.

This video is SO helpful. Like you, I started having problems with Tinnitus in 2008, with a loud blast of a speaker when I was at a rock concert. Unlike you, I didn't know how to resolve it. And the medical people (GP, 2 audiologists) all said, "You will probably have to live with it for the rest of your life! Have a nice day!" How I WISH, Dr. Veer, that I had seen your video back then. However, I have sort of stumbled on what you share in this video. When I have bad Tinnitus days, I try to distract myself. I do not notice it is worse when my stress is up. So I view it as a flashing warning light on the dashboard of my life to do what I can to deal with the stress at hand. I will also put your suggestions into practice. Also, I really enjoy your channel! I was diagnosed with sleep apnea in January. Starting CPAP has been a challenge (including Treatment Emergent Central Apneas), however, I am pressing through all that and am using the CPAP through the night. Now, I'm really experiencing the amazing DIFFERENCE that CPAP is making... I feel so much more well rested, refreshed. I feel like I'm 22, not 62! Vik please tell my story to other people that are going through hell, i am proof that Tinnitus can completely disappear and is often just a temporary thing that will pass if you can calm yourself. Absolutely fantastic video and very true. I “thought” I first heard my tinnitus a few years ago, I concentrated on it, got stressed by it and it made it unbelievably loud. This got me stuck in a depressive loop. I was in a toxic relationship at the time and I believe this is the reason why. I also developed eye floaters around the same time. I believe this was all linked. Truth is, and I knew this to a certain degree, id heard it before, especially when I was stressed, after concerts, after I consumed large amounts of alcohol etc but never paid attention to it so was never bothered by it. 2 years later I am out of the relationship and happy, my tinnitus has improved beyond words. I used to hear it 24/7, I only ever hear it now if I’m in bed, when it’s very quiet and I’m pretty sure it’s what I’ve “always” heard and is totally normal. If you have just “developed” it, let me reassure you, you haven’t, you have probably had it for a very, very long time, if not since you were born - you have only just NOTICED it! Don’t give up hope, you will make a full recovery I promise!

I have significant hearing loss and saw audiologist, then got hearing aids. I HATED them! The audiologist assured me that my brain would adjust to all the horrible noise that, seemed to me, was assaulting my brain. My hair touching my glasses sounded like cellophane crumbling. Every step I took causes banging in my head, and the aids were turned only to 40%, with audiologist plan to increase 10% each week until 100% If my brain can grow accustomed to every second being assaulted with noise, I reckon my brain can grow accustomed to tinnitus. I’ve been hearing impaired my entire life. Now, the audiologist is trying to hard-sell me that I’m more prone to dementia if I don’t correct my hearing. I don’t believe this, but if anyone has further info, please reach out to me. I’ve live this way for my entire life. I don’t miss what I am not hearing. Not at all. I was having panic attacks and crying whenever I was supposed to wear the hearing aids. I was really, really unhappy, but was convinced that I had to wear them. Finally, I was just so miserable that I took them out, and will NEVER wear hearing aids again, unless they drastically improve in function. Oh, and there was zero improvement in my tinnitus. My puppy barked at me and it sounded like he was going to kill me. I couldn’t drive because every car that I passed by (coming toward me on the other side of the road) sounded so violent that I’d be immediately distracted, so couldn’t safely drive. All the while, the audiologist, who is a doctor of audiology, paid no heed to what I was saying and insisted that I’d grow accustomed. For an audiologist, she sorely lacks ability to listen and hear.

hello, i would just like to come back and update on my current state of tinnitus. (i posted my comment a while back when i first got tinnitus) when i first got it, it genuinely came out of nowhere. i know for some it’s due to exposure to loud noise or maybe some kind of injury, but i’m pretty sure i was just watching tik tok. the first moment i got it, i could have vomited, as gross as that description is, it’s true. i was so anxious, my nervous system was on such high alert that i couldn’t sleep. so, i found this video. it gave me hope that even if i wasn’t able to get rid of my tinnitus, i could live with it. i’ve had tinnitus for about a year now, i like to describe the sounds as high pitch silence. (basically a hissing but i don’t hear hissing) anyway, i came here to shed some light on tinnitus and how it still affects me. here’s the great part, it’s honestly doesn’t! i have become used to it after a couple weeks of having it. i also wouldn’t quite say it is quite either, but i rarely ever notice it now. even at when i’m going to sleep! crazy right?! but this isn’t to say i don’t have hard days, today is that day. (hence me posting this at 4 in the morning, lol) BUT i still am hopeful it will pass. this video gives me that hope, still. WE GOT THIS 😁😁…okay i should get some sleep now 😅

Psychologist here and INTJ. I came here looking for what I suspected. Tinnitus treatment might be partially psychological. I have tinnitus from having tinnitus. Lol. I had an ear infection that caused loud tinnitus and distorted hearing. But I got in such a habit of checking to see if the tinnitus was improving that I started noticing a very high pitched sound that I recognized and think I’ve always had, but I started noticing it more and more for a couple of days. My friend passed away and my child had a crisis on the same day and that night in silence the tinnitus was screaming and I had an anxiety reaction to it. This caused me to start checking on the tinnitus continuously and the sound started to become constant and provoke anxiety. As a psychologist I recognized a few things. First, my response to the tinnitus was suddenly anxiety ridden. This always makes neutral stimuli seem more threatening. The amygdala will focus on the threat. The other thing I noticed is that this feels very much like and OCD loop where the focus on tinnitus is the obsession and the compulsion is to listen to it to see if it’s still there (which it always will be and always has been). So, I knew I had to break the loop. The way to do that is through ERP. I focus on the tinnitus whenever I notice it and tell my brain it’s allowed to notice this and that it’s nothing. I focus on it until I feel bored of it. I keep doing this over and over. The thought comes up and I focus on it with acceptance. Allow it to be and know that’s it’s safe. The brain is lying to you. There is no danger there. Allow it to be with you like a friend and move through your day with it. Shift your focus to what you can hear outside of your head. It will get better.

that's the best advice i have heard so far. i have been dealing with anxiety for a few months now, health anxiety and a mental ocd which means i was getting stuck in the mental loop of reassurance about any and every illness you could think of and the mental loop is the worst part of it. it creates more anxiety. i started to see a councillor to deal with it. anyhow about six weeks ago i got tinnitus and it knocked me back to square one. i started googling tinnitus and scared the hell out of me. i thought i had a tumor or MS or god only knows what. i went to my dr. who checked my ears and said i was barking up the wrong tree and that it was just tinnitus which millions of people get. this eased my anxiety and when i seen how many people deal with this on a daily basis including people i know also made me feel better. over this past six weeks i am getting back to myself and many days when i am busy i dont even notice it and even when i do it is not loud unless i am stressed. i fully agree with you that people like me who have ocd will turn our tinnitus in to another loop and compulsion. your advice is great.

ENTJ here. Had military-developed Tinnitus from being arround the range, for years. But it settled down and became rather mild. A few weeks ago, had a very bad cold and WOW, had major pain in my ears (especially right ear) and developed the worst tinnitus I've ever had. Searing, high pitched noise. But I am trying not to focus on it.
@ddesa12311 күн бұрын
This is so true. I read a book on neural plasticity several years ago when I first got tinnitus. It was this same concept. At first it was complete and total hell. I checked on it every minute of the day and it never disappeared. Eventually the sole focus became acceptance. 4 years later and I barely even knew I had it. Sometimes I forget I did. Then my kids got an infection and it really spiked. It was back with a vengeance and I “noticed” it again. I started listening to all of the apps, focusing on it, checking on it, panicking. Basically forgetting all of my lessons. And the depression spiked. Last night I accepted it. I slept knowing it was safe and fine and part of me. I turned off the music and internally told stories in my brain. Lo and behold, it was starting to get quieter today. It’s still loud but nothing like it was. That is the trick. This is the only way.

First of all: I so very much appreciate your humble disposition as a doctor. My Tinnitus started shortly after having been exposed to black mold. I did find something online suggesting that black mold can trigger tinnitus which, I presume, would suggest an infection. However, I do think that it's not the ear but, as you stated, rather brain-noise like a constant electrical current. Your idea of recalibrating the brain makes so much sense to me as it implies the creation of a filter. In other words getting the brain to filter out (suppress) unwanted noise. Thank you!

Excellent! I’ve had this condition for decades. Originally, I felt trapped in a world where I could lose my mind. As time passed, I found it didn’t interfere with my work (Civil Engineer) but, if I’d check, it would still be there; at times causing brief anxiety. At that time, I began to associate it with going into a newly painted room; when you first go the odor is strong but, after some time you don’t notice it because you become distracted. When Neuroscience came along, I got interested and it opened up a whole new world of understanding brain functions. You absolutely have the best explanation of what is happening and I’d recommend it to anyone dealing with tinnitus. Just understanding is helpful.

I started noticing a ringing almost 2 years ago. And everything this man is telling us is the absolute truth. I haven't manage to get completely rid of my tinnitus, it is still with me 24/7, but for the most part of the day I am able to not notice it. At night, i don't use any "tool" to sleep, I've just trained myself to doesn't think about it, doesn't give importance about it, and I am able to sleep like I always have. Some days, when the perception is that is louder than normally, it can gets very annoying, and what I do is to distract my brain with anything, music, white noise, games (that is really a good one), movies... anything that requires both requires my focus and relax me. It's an everyday fight, but we can win.

Hi all, I’ve been suffering from Tinitus for about 6 months now. Initially, it was really tough with the associated anxiety, stress and general panic. I love what the Dr has to say and really believe that you can’t let it change your life. Don’t let it control you, control it. Have a active life and distract yourself as much as possible by staying active and doing things. Try to stay away from silence, be outdoors and around people as much as you can. Interacting with people is the best way to distract you from the constant ringing. Obviously this doesn’t help much in those tough time in the night and morning, but the Docs advice definitely will! Stay positive guys! It’s the only way!

I’ve been suffering from tinnitus for about eight months now. It’s been quite variable, but I absolutely believe we can have an influence over it. Finding this video really caught my interest. What’s even more incredible is that I’m known for having a strong mental resilience and the ability to adapt to many situations, yet as soon as I finished watching the video, you managed to distract me, and I noticed a reduction in the noise. I’m now going to remind myself that it’s possible to focus on something else until my brain decides there’s no point in paying attention to the sound anymore. Thank you so much-it has helped me a lot. Even though I may still use some masking techniques from time to time, the difference is night and day. As you said, some manage to overcome this in six minutes, others in six months. I hope, for once, that I’ll be one of the quicker ones. Having so many negative things happen to me, it would be nice to experience something positive for a change. Thanks again! Kisses from France 🇫🇷

You describe what works for me too. Had tinnitus 20 years but had bad attack this year. I too don’t like a music or false annoying distracting masking noise but i find a youtube audio book which has a good reader with voice just right, melodious timbre, no accent, not too loud. Then i fall asleep listening. Distraction as you say works. it takes time each night to find the right story but worth finding one that will work.After a good sleep, one starts next day more relaxed and not uptight. In the day, i’m alone a lot as prefer silence, but even here, i need to listen to a distracting noise of choice if i’m not with people but conversation with others is best distraction. Also practise “habituation” which is mastery of brain over noise, accepting it is there but not letting noise dominate or bother you. Accepting it lowers anxiety it’s there. Distraction as you say is key

My tinnitus started when I was in prison. After a regular life, I ended up in prison in my 50s. I don’t recall if I had any tinnitus earlier. I slowly become aware of it about a year in, however for awhile I could shake my head and it would stop. But one evening, seven years ago, while sitting on my bunk and watching TV, the ringing started up again and it hasn’t stopped since. I’ve been out for four years, but once you’ve gone to prison, many aspects of your life are shot to hell. Watching this video is the first time I’ve ever thought that my tinnitus could be a result of the stress, anxiety, and depression of being sent to prison and its after effects.

You're absolutely right, Vik! My tinnitus journey started five years ago after stumbling upon a video about it. Sometimes it feels like my mind is about to explode from the noise, and other times it's peacefully quiet. I've learned it's all about focus. Doc Vik has been a lifesaver. No matter how bad it gets, meditation and self-awareness help tremendously. Now, I'm a healthier person with good hearing, just a bit paranoid sometimes. Thanks, Doc!

This is by far the best information and advice on Tinnitus I have ever encountered, thanks! I am a musician with hearing loss in the high frequencies. When I became aware of my Tinnitus over a decade ago it was devastating but over time I adapted to it. Many points in this video reinforce my own view and experience of Tinnitus. In a nutshelit will improve to the point when it isn't important if you learn to distract your mind from focussing on it, which may seem impossible to begin with-but, watching this I believe it is possible, and that's half the battle-so thank you again!

I had tinnitus a couple of decades ago, and I found that I could just mentally try to "turn it off" and it would go off. I did this every time it came back, and eventually, it stopped coming back. This is mentally taxing though. A week ago, it came back with a vengeance, and my attempts to just mentally turn it off as before failed. But I realized that I was panicking a bit, and making it worse by focusing on it. I found that it was reduced while watching this video, because of the calming tone. You've given me hope that I can suppress it again.

I’m brand new to tinnitus and have been struggling greatly. I’m 30, a new nursing student, and mother. I think mine started when I got really bad anxiety/panic attacks. I’m doing all the medical appointments (ENT, family doctor, blood work) to try to find a cause, but being prepared to find nothing and have to do the work myself. I really liked how you explained it. I really do find when distracted and positive it lowers, I don’t notice it for awhile, or I have to look for it. Last night and today it has been screaming though, but probably because all I’ve been doing is reading and thinking about it. Thank you. :)

I believe it really can become very quiet maybe even go away! I have had several stressful seasons of life (great loss a few times) and during some of them, I found the need to sleep with a fan on. And after about a year I didn’t need it anymore. Background noise can be very helpful even while reading etc. I really like the deep focus you tube videos, they have a deeper tone to them. I feel for you! I am 41 and have 6 children :) it’s hard for mamas with tinnitus, the dear children can be loud, when tinnitus is flared up! Stress makes mine worse for sure. But when things calm down a bit, it gets quieter. I try to flip the parasympathetic/sympathetic nervous system by switching the shower to cold, back to warm, back to cold. I just need to work on staying under the cold for longer 😆

I will for sure complete your video and listen several more times. The closest I have gotten to calming my tinnitus was when an ENT suggested I wear hearing aids to basically do what you are suggesting....mask the sound. The hearing aid was to over stimulate my brain with pronounced ambient sounds to mask IT. Did not work. I will try to take control of it and constantly tell myself that I'm not interested in this 3 horrible frequencies and focus on ANYTHING else around me. Thank you for this.

Absolutely fantastic video. I had tinnitus for 28 years (woke up with it when I was 13) and after the second Pfizer jab it got way louder and took me over a month before I stopped being really anxious. Now I go to work as much as possible and listen to podcasts to take my mind off the tinnitus. It’s been 6 months nearly and it doesn’t seem to have improved but it doesn’t rule my life like it did before. I have somatic tinnitus and am looking at seeing tinnitus specialists to see if there’s any treatment available. Thanks for this video, really great explanation! But I will add that my personal belief now is that because it’s so subjective, people that suffer with tinnitus that is louder than the usual case will really struggle to get rid of it because it’s just too loud to never not notice. Quieter tinnitus I believe can be ignored to a point where it’s barely noticeable unless you go looking for it.

Im 39 I've had tinnitus for around 15 years, it came about following a night out exposed to very loud music, despite me doing this for years this one time it never did go away. Id now describe it as mild, constant high pitch sound always noticeable. I've managed to live fairly comfortably with it. I'm just recovering from quite a nasty ear infection which has increased the sound of the ringing, I've found this video helpful in terms of learning how maybe to control and distract myself from the noise, its refreshing to hear we can actually reduce or even "forget we have it" I find being in the outdoors surrounding by birds and the sound of breeze really helps me dull or forget the sound, maybe ill take up fishing, a peaceful outdoor actually that may help recover from this, this video has really help me think of ways i can get rid of this. Thank you :)

This worked thank you very much. Keep yourselves distracted, don't focus on the ringing, don't think about it just forget about it. When I want to relax I focus on my breath not on what I can hear. I play affirmations, meditations and white noise ect when I go to sleep. Sometimes i leave my window open so i can hear a natural breeze at night. Your brain will tune it out to the point where you can't hear it at all. Even my audiologist said the same thing. Don't read about Tinnitus online it will just make you stress and focus on it more and make it louder.

Thank you Vik, for your positive message, I cannot tell you how much I needed to hear someone tell me I am not stuck with this forever. My tinnitus started a week ago after I had taken some bis-glycinate tablets I took to help with sleep and muscle strength. They were the only thing I did differently, I started the tablets on the Sunday by Wednesday had this awful buzzing in both ears, so stopped taking the tablets, I think the amount of magnesium in the tablets triggered this as the bottle said one in morning two in evening so quite a high amount of magnesium. I was not on any other tablets. Since stopping them (only took for 3 days) it has lessened but has not gone away and feel the tablets have pushed me into the loop you mention and that I now have to work out how to retrain my brain. Frustrated and angry this has happened but to hear your positive message that this does not have to be my reality going forward is really good to hear. I have also tried that flicking of the lower part of the back of the head but it seems to only give momentary relief and does not last. I can distract all day but at night I have issues with sleeping, I have tried audio books, and they help a bit and I can drop off listening to them but it is not restful sleep. I am determined to remain positive and will action all your great advice, thank you so much.

Hi Dr. Vik, I have Autism,depression, anxiety and panic disorder. With my severe sound sensitivities and misophonia I struggle. I developed tinnitus and my audiologist said it was due to my slight hearing loss with age. I have sleep apnoea and because I can’t tolerate a Cpap with my sensitivities I came across your wonderfully informative video of exercises for sleep apnoea. I have been doing these and I’ve noticed some difference but because I’m so severe with it I realise it won’t completely cure me. I’m very grateful you made the sleep apnoea throat exercises video. I mask my tinnitus with a fan running all the time as when I first discovered it I was having constant panic attacks. I was on anti depressants for 16 years but came off them 8 years ago due to some side effects. I was terrified of the tinnitus at the beginning but have learnt to live with it. I don’t have a tinnitus clinic in Tassie AU. I’m originally from England, born in Yorkshire lol. Thank you for all your wonderful videos. 🙏🏻👍🏻💕💯

I've had tinnitus as long as I can remember [since about kindergarten] and lived my ENTIRE life not realizing that it was tinnitus. I'd always thought that it was just normal to hear a loud, high-pitched sound 24/7, as if it was part of the ear's sound processing or something. One day I read an article about tinnitus & looked up what it sounded like on KZbin, just out of curiosity. The very first video I played, the second example they showed was EXACTLY what I'd been hearing my entire life. I went from never really being bothered by the sound [NOT because it wasn't bothersome, but because I figured "everybody has to deal with this, suck it up & ignore it", which hasn't always been easy] to noticing it a LOT more. I've since allowed it to fade back into the background, figuring I'd lived 30 years with the sound, I can go back to living as I used to & just accept I won't know true silence. It's not perfect, but it's way better than stressing/actively thinking about it 24/7.

Immediately after a car accident almost 6 years ago, my tinnitus began. It was very mild, but still drove me crazy. Then, after an ear infection that had gone undetected for about two months because it was so high up in my inner ear they couldn’t see it apparently, I started getting high-pitched bouts of tinnitus that would last one to three hours and happen six or seven times a day. That was 2 1/2 years ago. It has slowly improved. Removing salt from my diet helped. And I do wonder if sinus issues may also contribute. However, I am going to try this! I’m in a quiet house all day long and never turn on the TV because hearing that noise in my head was enough noise. But I have noticed as I’ve started feeling better and as I am able to keep busy that there are parts of the day where I don’t even think about it. Thank you for this insight! I will keep you posted!
