ഇതിന്റെയൊക്കെ മൂല കാരണം നമ്മുടെ രാജ്യത്തിലെ ജനസംഖ്യ വളരെ കൂടുതലാണ് എന്നതാണ്. അപ്പോൾ സ്വാഭാവികമായി ഇത്രയും ജനങ്ങൾക്ക് ജീവിക്കാൻ വേണ്ടി അമിതമായി പ്രകൃതി ചൂഷണം നടത്തേണ്ടി വരും. ഒരു പ്രകൃതി ദുരന്തം വന്നാൽ ജനസാന്ദ്രത കൂടുതൽ ആയതുകൊണ്ട് മരണസംഖ്യയും കൂടും. ഇന്ത്യയെക്കാൾ നാരിരട്ടി വലുപ്പമുള്ള അമേരിക്കയിലും കാനഡയിലും ഓസ്ട്രേലിയയിലും ഒക്കെ ഇന്ത്യയിലെ ജനസംഖ്യയുടെ ചെറിയൊരു ശതമാനം മാത്രമേ ഉള്ളൂ. നമ്മളെക്കാൾ മൂന്നിരട്ടി വലിപ്പമുള്ള ചൈനയിൽ പോലും നമ്മുടെ ജനസംഖ്യയെക്കാൾ ഇപ്പോൾ കുറവാണ്. അത് മനസ്സിലാക്കാതെ ഒരു ദുരന്തം വരുമ്പോൾ വെറുതെ ഗാഡ്ഗിൽ കസ്തൂരിരംഗൻ പിടി തോമസ് എന്നൊക്കെ പറഞ്ഞു ചിലച്ചിട്ടു കാര്യമില്ല. നമ്മുടെ ജനസംഖ്യ കുറയ്ക്കാൻ സത്വരമായ നടപടികൾ എടുക്കുകയാണ് വേണ്ടത്. നമ്മുടെ ജനസംഖ്യ നിയന്ത്രണവിധേയമാകുന്നതുവരെ ദമ്പതികൾക്ക് ഒരു കുഞ്ഞു മാത്രമേ ഉണ്ടാക്കാൻ പാടുള്ളൂ എന്ന നിയമം വരണം.
