En Portugal, el tiempo parece transcurrir más despacio. A la vez, su gente trasmite esa mezcla de serenidad y hospitalidad tan valorada por el viajero. Son muchas las cualidades que hacen de Portugal un destino privilegiado. Entre ellas, sin duda, el descanso. En pocas palabras, Portugal es el lugar perfecto para alejarse del mundanal ruido, relajarse y recargar las pilas. Entre tantos rincones hay uno muy especial: Vila Nova de Milfontes. Este pequeño pueblecito está situado en pleno parque natural (Parque Natural Do Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina), en la desembocadura del río Mira y a unos quince kilómetros al sur de la costa de Porto Covo. Vila Nova de Milfontes atesora multitud de placeres entre sus callejuelas estrechas con tradicionales y coquetas casitas bajas, adornadas de preciosas buganvillas color fucsia. La gastronomía es uno de ellos, también sus espectaculares playas y sus paisajes vírgenes. Gastronomía En el país del bacalao, no todo se restringe al pescado -que desde luego es uno de los platos obligatorios- también cuenta con una exuberante variedad de frutas y verduras frescas, quesos (queijo da Serra, queijo serpa, queijo Alentejo, el beja, el azeitâo, y multitud de variedad de quesos frescos...). Importante la tradición repostera con el caramelo como ingrediente central, o la canela, uno de los sabores preferidos de los cocineros portugueses, desde la floreciente época imperial de Portugal, cuando los navegantes traían y llevaban alimentos desde las vastísimas colonias. Una de las visitas ineludibles en Vila Nova de Milfontes es el mercado de abastos. En él, encontraremos exquisiteces que forman parte de la dieta de la zona como el marisco, uno de los favoritos en restaurantes y bares de la zona. Puede tomarse como plato único o en las tradicionales “cataplanas” (de origen árabe) de arroz con marisco. Otro de los privilegios que proporciona la productiva tierra portuguesa es el vino, no en vano se trata del sexto país productor de vinos del mundo. Es precisamente esta zona sur de la costa atlántica, Alentejo, donde se encontraron restos de recipientes que indican que los romanos ya fabricaban vino aquí allá por el siglo II d.C. Los mejores tintos de esta zona son una mezcla de cepas: tinta roriz del Douro, castelar francês y trincadeira. Nuestra recomendación es empezar abriendo apetito con un buen vino alentejano acompañado de unas aceitunas en Ritual, un precioso local con detalles retro. Después, continuar con los placeres culinarios de la Tasca do Celso, donde podemos probar alguna de sus sabrosas cataplanas o cualquiera de los genuinos platos de su amplia carta. El Forte de Sâo Clemente Construido a finales del siglo XVI, el Fuerte de San Clemente, conocido también como "El Castillo de Milfontes", es una fortificación que se alza sobre la propia desembocadura del río Mira. Su origen es fenicio, pero se han identificado también en él restos arqueológicos de etapas griega, cartaginesa y romana. A pesar de haber desempeñado una estratégica función de defensa durante distintos periodos, incluyendo ataques de corsarios y piratas, la historia no parece haber sido demasiado justa con esta imponente construcción. A menudo ha ido cambiado de propietarios y ha pasado por distintas reformas tras haberse encontrado prácticamente derruida. Recientemente, el edificio fue adaptado por uno de sus propietarios como residencia y con fines turísticos. Estas funciones permanecieron hasta 2009, cuando fue vendido. La fortaleza fue catalogada como bien de interés público desde 1978. Y más tarde, con la creación del Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina, fue incluida en uno de los ámbitos de la salvaguardia del Patrimonio Cultural. Actualmente se encuentra de nuevo a la venta. Los aviadores de "Patria" En la coqueta placita donde se encuentra la entrada al castillo, un monumento recuerda a tres valientes aviadores. En 1924, Brito Pais (natural de Vila Nova de Milfontes), Sarmento de Beires y Manuel Gouveia emprendieron, en un arriesgado vuelo, la primera ruta aérea Lisboa-Macao a bordo del frágil aeroplano "Patria". La zona cuenta con una buena variedad de playas de calidad y nada masificadas. Empezando por la propia playa urbana de este pueblecito pesquero, pasando por Praia do Malhâo y terminando por la preciosa Praia da Ilha do Pessegueiro (en Porto Covo). Praia do Malhâo Unos kilómetros al norte de Vila Nova de Milfontes está la espectacular Praia do Malhâo. La bravura del mar en la zona, la piedra de sus acantilados y las dunas que la rodean, la hacen paradisíaca. Es una de las preferidas de los amantes del surf. Cuenta también con una parte naturista. Es ideal para pasearla por su amplitud y para fotografiarla por su belleza. Praia da Ilha do Pessegueiro (Porto Covo) Se trata de una exótica playa con un ambiente muy tranquilo. Es frecuentada por hippies y caravanistas lo que le aporta un aire muy alternativo. Tiene la particularidad de que mira hacia una pequeña isla del mismo nombre: La Isla do Pessegueiro. En ella se ubicaba en época romana una fábrica de salazón de pescado. Altamente recomendable es el restaurante A Ilha. Un pintoresco lugar muy propio tanto para un buen almuerzo de verduras, pescado y marisco, como para relajarse con alguna lectura y con un café por delante al caer la tarde. Alojarse en el Refugio da Praia Si bien Vila Nova de Milfontes cuenta con un amplia y variada oferta de alojamientos, es precisamente a unos metros de Praia da Ilha do Pessegueiro, en Porto Covo, donde recomendamos alojarse: Refugio de Praia. Se trata de un lugar poco sofisticado, sencillo pero con una paz difícil de encontrar. Los amaneceres y atardeceres en este lugar están impregnados de belleza y armonía. Las vistas y paisajes son sencillamente espectaculares. La sensación del reparador descanso que llega a alcanzarse es poco habitual en los tiempos que corren. 🤝👊👍 excelente trabajo gracias ! por compartir , feliz año nuevo que este les traiga abundancia , amor , salud , y armonia
