Another great packraft video. Have you done a video on your gear list and how you pack for multi day paddles?
@Vildmark Жыл бұрын
No I haven’t. I did plan to do one before Sweden last year but didn’t get around to it. I will do one on a packraft day pack.

What a beautiful part of the world and good to see that the Nomad is not destroyed by surface ice I have an Anfibio Alpha and I’m looking to ‘upgrade’ to either a Nomad or a an Aquaglide Cirrus - see what’s on offer at the Outdoor show in a few weeks. What do you think? Not much in the weight. Love your videos, thank you.

I’ll be on the Paqualife stand at the outdoor expo on the Saturday with a nomad so you welcome to take a look. I love the nomad, it’s really comfy and paddles really well

Thank for this informative clip! I've had the Microraft w/o ISS for 3 years and seriously considering an upgrade to Nomad S1D once the ice is gone (Finland). Would you say the speed difference is noticable? More speed, more space, better seat and more kayak-like shape and spraydeck make it very tempting indeed. Looking forward to your mentioned other review of this raft.

The speed is noticeable, personally I think the Microraft has more foot room for me. The seat is comfortable and supportive and yes in general more like a kayak with all the benefits of a packraft.

@@Vildmark Thanks, good to know - I have long legs and size 43 shoe. I hope to find it for a test paddle at an Outdoor Expo.

Yes, as a former kayaker its speed capabilities were a major factor. I got up to 7,5 km/h out of it, although with 3 skegs. A great review, after nearly 3 years I would add these two additional aspects: 1. as mentioned it’s length make it less agile in WW, b u t if you also not so experienced with WW it is very stable and forgiving up to WW3-4 ( esp. with evenly packed ISS2) Similar mistakes with other packrafts on the same course often lead to flipping them over. 2. after a while in WW, the zippers/removable deck tend to leak, but covering them with waterproof gorilla tape did the job and lasted for around 4 trips when the nomad is folded carefully. Also my zippers tended to break open after a year while opening and closing the “trunk/booth) during trips after being fully inflated, here too taping over the broken stretches helped and could be zipped up again after deflation. But the benefits out way by far and a additional bonus are the Nomad’s sailing capabilities and its length even allows for upwind sailing with a removable L-shaped sail (Vela Eola).

Great. Sounds like you’ve really put it through it’s paces. I’m looking forward to using it more.

What length of paddle would you recommend for a height of 170 cm?
@Vildmark Жыл бұрын
200 - 210 but really depends what your paddling, white water or touring.

Don't hold a shore when entering your vessel..! Just grap the paddle, hold it square and sit down. If you're unstable by waves or whatever, you'll be in the craft with paddle instead of being split between vessel and the bridge, - guess how that's going to end 😳🌊🛟
