Good addition to base defence is adding long grass. Movement speed is reduced quite a bit when someone is walking through it. Adding it somewhere that forces raiders to move through it will allow archers more time to pick them off. Would like to see some creative designs using the long grass. Just remember once winter comes the grass will die.

I found some interesting bugs with the game's invasion events. Mind you, I started hard difficulty in Survival mode Lone wolf, so I started from just one settler. Even when geared up, your settlers get destroyed by raiders pretty fast. I found that if you fully wall your village when raiders arrive, the pillagers won't move. They'll just stand around. You'll get a "Defeated" message if you don't tell anyone too go into defense mode. BUT, by time start getting literally 55+ enemies too deal with. If don't want your village too get walls knocked down while hiding inside, make a moat around the outter walls. The moat takes a lot of time, but it's great way to funnel your enemies. The game does have glitch where if you make a maze, the attackers won't come to your town, it's like it can't figure out the pathing.
@perafilozof
@perafilozof 3 жыл бұрын
Hello Furlow Torent and thank you for sharing your experience and idea with us. It is indeed a problem with the pathfinding but also gameplay mechanic as there is no jumping in the game. So a moat is THE best defense right now.

I just have one main attacking tower with the rest of my base underground. Only 1-2 melee attackers with the rest of my 15-20 units being archers with crossbows for added range. Bait tactic used against trebuchets. Which also means my melee attackers need to be in leather armour to run faster. Managed to survive way long with this technique.

Actually for the tiles, you can make it work as a road. If you place it somewhat like a road from 1 building to another, the settlers will follow that instead of walking randomly to the place they wanted to go. I knew this because I accidentally saw the speed walking of each tiles were different. Hence, i made an experiment and saw that they walked using the roads i made. So, if your village designs are far and wide, make use of this tips. 😁

Can you review weapons and armors? There's various types of weapons and armors. but I cannot know their exact performance,required min.skill points, etc- before i make one. I can only assume more advanced materials i use the better performance it show. Its quite a big investment of time and resourses to make an iron weapon(or armor) during mid game and its really annoying to find out that i cant use it(due to min. skill points)or it has lesser performance then the weapon i already have in my storage

I don't know if anyone pointed it out yet, but if you accept a slave better check what apparel they are wearing when they come in. Some comes in wearing shackles as an apparel which gives off negative mood to that villager. Simply open the manage tab, drop the shackles if they're wearing one and have them wear winter/summer apparel. Additionally, during summer and a heat wave is present, you could deal with it through changing the villagers schedule to work in the night and sleep between 9-16. It will help reduce villagers suffering from excessive heat especially if you haven't have summer clothes prepared.

Such a great video! Great tips for the individual room buffs, but with many more villagers added on later, atleast for survival modes, it gets chaotic and probably not work it to have. Shared rooms still seem best, and more resource conscious.

Hello Brian and welcome to my channel. I am glad you enjoyed the videos. No, I don't do Let's plays for a number of reasons, main one being having a small child at home who won't let me sit and talk in front of my PC for hours. Second reason is because I enjoy making tutorials, guides and how to videos which are quite lacking on YT, especially about this game. While Let's plays are a dime a dozen. Once my kid grows up a bit, I will be back to making let's plays along side other videos.

One tip: to protect clay, sticks, Limestone, gold, iron... we don't have impact with temperature. I put personally all this materials outside with a little roof: we don't need walls: just 4 walls and wood beams with a roof on the top, is pretty cheap in the beginning of the game ;).

@@perafilozof Just looking for the basics of what should be near what, for good production speed. Instead of just adding a storage space in each room, drawn from a larger storage space. As I expand, I have been slowly making new rooms for each item, so books, have their own room, armor is in a room with armor racks, texitles (leather cloth) have their own room, dead animals, dead people (for eating), beer, seeds, etc all now have their own room, and this has been expanding westward. Going East, I have all the sleeping areas, then all my production has their own room. This was my firs time playing so I didn't know about what uses what, I just wanted things to be clear. Now, I'm looking at it, and thinking, "my armor guy has to walk all the way across the base to get armor to deconstruct."
@perafilozof
@perafilozof Жыл бұрын
Hi, so to keep things like that more organized and prevent settlers from walking too far there are a few tips: 1) as you mentioned keep supplies necessary for each job close to where the job is done 2) have multiple small bedrooms around the settlement which are close to working areas 3) build vertically to keep bedrooms, workrooms and storage rooms close to each other 4) build under, on and above ground to get every type of room close to each other

@@perafilozof Game is great in my 15ish hours i played it so far. more chill rimworld. i imagine it being amazing after current roadmap updates are implemented. i just think that combat is far to easy and weird. AI is pretty dumb, trying to get to your colonists is their top priority. so you can easily bait them into a death trap. i think they should change that to facilitate more siege stuff from enemies rather than horde of brainless peasants rushing through trap mazes while trying to kill your settlers.
