I noticed many Americans are buying these historic old cabins and restoring them, then decorating them with antiques from the 1700's. It will be so fun to watch you fix this up for your family. That little house will be smiling once all the restoration is finished..I think its fabulous that you have taken the time and all the effort to make it a home again...I wonder who originally first built it and lived there.,The old bark scraper you found.made me think how hard the older generations use to have to work..And how fortunate we are to have big machinery that can take all the back ache out of having to do such labouring tasks....At the same time working with ones hands is very satisfying and rewarding isn't it...A sense of satisfaction of doing it yourself and making it whole again .And in your case a nice liveable cottage..I really enjoy seeing how all your efforts help to grow this wonderful venture you have taken on..Well done....

Hola Murka mira de lejos el trabajo de la de emparejar el terreno jajaja Quedará muy bonita , eres una persona muy dedicada con la restauración de tu casita al igual que tú esposa te ayuda en hacer jardín , a limpiar el patio etc . Friendly and well-intentioned advice on stacking bricks. Due to the weight, bricks break more easily if they are stacked on the flat side. If they are stacked on the edge, they can better cope with the pressure from the stones above. I am a bricklayer and structural engineer. Huge project you are working on. Really good to have the awl stones visible and that the lower beam comes free from the ground. For one reason or another, the ground "grows", so that the beams come into contact with the ground over time. It is otherwise very cleverly done with the beams on the boulders, which do not conduct moisture. Should the rest of the house be undercast, or was it only the lowest ground part.

I was a bit shocked to see such a large area of excavation to have taken place. I thought you were building a new home instead of refurbing the existing. I guess you could still do that. Again lots of hard work Alexander. I am very interested to see what you do with this dug out area. Regards..John
