We may not have the history of Europe, but immigrants have been importing it for many generations. There’s old towns up north that have German architecture, cuisine, etc., and we have our own gothic cathedrals. Anything you want, you can find here in the US. Wish we were better at recycling as a whole, but it would be a necessity for the European countries where everything comes in a small bottle. Every country has their problems, and it’s popular to hate on America(ns) nowadays. We do not fixate on them the same way. @Alan Light (Slightly butt-hurt American here. LOL) I have to agree with you on your take that while he's an American, I got the impression - at least from this video - that he seems to prefer European cultures to his own. And that's perfectly fine. He's certainly entitled to his opinions. But there was one thing that he said in his video that really bugged me. It was when he just carelessly tossed a wrapper of some kind on the ground which, of course, strongly implied that Americans don't give a rat's a$$ about the environment. (Same with his remarks about recycling, so I guess that makes it "a couple of things".) I found those claims to be pretty unfair. I've lived in the US my whole life and I've traveled around this country and abroad many, many times. I've been in some of the most heavily populated cities on both Continents and I can probably count on one hand the number of times that I've seen someone just carelessly toss their garbage on the sidewalk or roadway. That might have been a more common problem a few decades ago, but I just don't see it these days. And as far as the recycling part goes, just about every town or city I've been in here in the states, has recycling bins either on the streets or inside the business itself. (ie. fast food & coffee chains). And to the best of my knowledge, most cities, villages and small towns that have municipal waste facilities, have you separate your recyclables from your other garbage and even give you a couple of bins in which to do that for your trash pickup. Several states also have bottle and can deposits and multiple return sites to return them to. There are also strict fines imposed for littering or not recycling all over the country. Maybe I'm just being a total "Karen" about this, but it really frosted my behind when he said those things and it made me wonder if maybe he hasn't been back in the states in a very long time. LOL

Well, I know areas of the USA where people speak only English; but there are areas inside those states where people from one particular country or another gather; and create their own small communities. In large cities (like San Diego, CA) it is almost usual for people to speak multiple languages. The languages of our city are English and Spanish, you can get along with one just fine if you don't know the other. MANY people speak both. Also, as I work in a tourist area; speaking more than two languages is a BONUS and it's easy to get a higher paying job here with that skill. I've listened to Russian, Chinese and Farsi at the same time in a little restaurant. In Europe, everyone is just a short train ride to another language and country. I can see why the locals would pick up several languages as they grow up, due to very close contact. I love the rhythm and music of the languages; and if you watch body language and expression....you can pretty much figure out what people are talking about. Visiting Haiti; I knew no french....but I took a pencil and paper to draw pictures, and that seemed to work for everyone.

Free water is really something we need in Europe too, it's crazy to charge so much for it. I understand that bubbly, mineral water costs more, but why can't they give tap water for free? Also toilets should be free! :D It's interesting that there are similar differences within India as well.
@viciousyeen66442 жыл бұрын
Tap water is free (aside from that at home, but that’s not much per month) if you ask for a glass of tap water at a restaurant they most likely won’t charge you for it. The bottled water is a luxury product so to say. Also a pro tip for toilets: go into a store or a restaurant to use the restrooms, they won’t charge you most of the time, even if you’re not a customer. Public toilets do cost a fee to pay for their cleaning and the infrastructure

@@viciousyeen6644 Okay, I see your point regarding toilets, but in many restaurants in Europe, they stare at you as if you were crazy if you ask for free tap water. I wish they would deal with it like in the USA.

This channel would be so much better if the people that run it actually did research on the videos they release, and not just pick the first video that pops up when they search it…

I live in the USA, yes my great grand father came from England, and my father was full English, but my mother was half Irish and half German, so you see that the USA is considered a blending pot of world cultures. My oldest brother’s son married a lady whose family came to the USA from Mexico, and his other son married a lady who came here from Thailand! This is how it happens here…..so is my family English? No, we are blended stock. So Babu and your people need to learn that just because your skin is white, does not mean you are English! So people here would be upset to hear you say so! Also, Europe is NOT A COUNTRY! It is a Union of countries. Great Britain, France, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Portugal, Italy, and several others! Each with its own central government. The United States of America is a single country, consisting of 50 states, each having a state government, but all governed by our central government. Look at our flag, it has 50 stars, each representing a different state. It has a total of 13 red and white stripes, representing the original 13 colonies that broke away from England to form our separate country. Because we are a mixed society, we have the culture of many counties within our borders. We say our strength come from our diversity…some countries like Japan, say their strength comes from their single culture. So there are many opinions….and in the USA we are all considered to have the same value, given to us by God as part of our rights.

It's silly to show them a video made for American tourists. As a result, our villagers don't have much to say. The Indians would perhaps be less out of place in Europe than in the USA if they know Portuguese Goa, French Pondicherry or British Shimla.

Easy to understand for U.S. people since it is from that point of view, but I wonder if it makes sense from a perspective that is unfamiliar with the U.S. culture.

The young man who made this video is too young to remember but when I was a child, all soda pop came in glass bottles, even in vending machines. And you could return them to grocery stores/supermarkets for money in the US. Unfortunately now, everything is plastic.

Electric cars, better for the environment. Where does the electricity come from? People need to think beyond step one. Ever hear about bio-diesel lately? I takes more fossil fuel to create it than you get out of the bio-diesel.

the electricity comes from the grid which is much more efficient than burning it directly in your car

He's an American, don't ask too much of him! It is already miraculous that he knows that Europe exists and that it is still populated since most Americans think that Europe is empty since the Europeans settled in North America.

The UK isn't represented in this at all. Here you can get free water by asking for tap water, although more upmarket restaurants might refuse you. Likewise you can get free toilets in many large shops and all restaurants, also in malls etc. You may even, occasionally, come across an old public toilet which has not been shut down. They were a great loss. And the food portions aren't especially small in Europe they are just exceptionally large in America. That is why America has a massive obesity problem.
@irenecarrillo67502 жыл бұрын
Agreed, but that's not just the UK, it's kind of similar in a lot of European countries, it's just that the American guy probably experienced it with the perspective of a tourist
