@Doxymeister Жыл бұрын
@@michaeltnk1135 Then also mentioned how big Irish slavery was in the northern US states. Or the Chinese that built the railroads. Etcetera. Point being, human life didn't mean much in the past. Slavery was "a thing" in almost all cultures at some point in history or another. And don't forget to mention that not many people could afford to own slaves, that was pretty much a rich-person plantation thing--the average farmer could never afford to buy a healthy slave. Well crap...now we've gone over a whole lot of things. Idk, maybe we should avoid telling too much or putting them on the wrong foot.
@alexiscosta6265 Жыл бұрын
@@Doxymeister Why would they talk about the Irish or the Chinese when the movie is very specifically about the racial enslavement of African Americans.......are you being serious? Also, the Irish in north America were not slaves, they were indentured servants. There was no perpetual/hereditary racial slave trade of Irish people in the US. I hate that so many people continue to espouse this blatant myth and even try to compare it to what Africans were subjected to. At best, its ignorance, at worst, it's deflection.
@michaeltnk1135 Жыл бұрын
@@Doxymeister What? I said he should’ve mentioned that so that they would have better context for the movie. Not so that they would hate America. No point in sugar coating history. Your comment is so weird. The movie has nothing to do with Chinese people building railroads. And Irish people were never enslaved in the US? Why do you think that? Irish people were discriminated against, yes, but they weren’t enslaved
@Doxymeister Жыл бұрын
OP put it simply--"I love the introductions you give to the movies. They keep getting better. Briefly adding necessary context for their perspective, without telling TOO MUCH or putting them on the wrong foot." I think (it seems) that practically everyone knows how bad slavery is--the guys here even discussed it along with the caste system in their own country. Adding the need to go into a more detailed explanations isn't going to add any enjoyment of the movie for people who don't have that history, I don't think. It seemed extraneous details--much as all that stuff I said was extraneous. It's adding a bunch of stuff that's unnecessary (whether you agree with it's accuracy or not) in order for folks to understand the context and enjoy the movie. That's all.

@@Xcris_crosX It was similar at times, but also different. British rule of India was often indirect - essentially letting local rulers continue to rule so long as the taxes and goods kept flowing smoothly (and they didn't much care how it was done). Its how Britain has decided we were the good guys regarding slavery - even though we 100% were not, we just subcontracted it out and pretended it wasn't happening. The Indians were right to be angry at us for centuries of abuse.

I'm suprised they think that it doesn't exist anymore, when I have heard otherwise from a very educated Indian woman, and last week I came across a video of an African man traveling in India who kept being told he could not stay at their hotels because he was African. Similarly, a group of American students had similar stories. They booked online, and when they got there, the white women were welcomed in while the black ones were told they couldn't stay there. I am thinking that maybe in their area and village they don't see and face the same things as in other areas or larger cities.

Babu and Aman: Respectfully nodding their head back to him. 😆 21:04 The brutal fight between the two Mandingo. Babu: 😱 Aman: 😳 Raeen: Too stunned for words. 24:42 D'Artagnan's horrible death. The scene is gut-wrenching, hearing the pain in Babu's voice is even worse. 😢 26:19 We can all count of Babu's partiality for pretty women to lift the mood. The old devil. 😆 26:45 Django is ready to rain bullets on everybody. Babu, Aman and Raeen: fervently trying to convince him _not to._ *YET* 27:45 Babu gets possessed by the spirit of Elisa. 28:22 Broomhilda speaks in German to Dr. Schultz. Everybody: 👏😘 *CLAPS & KISSES* 😘👏 29:28 Broomhilda is about to be reunited with Django. Raeen is *IN-VEST-ED!* Also, total mayhem ensues. 🎉🎉🎉 30:19 Aman has a plan to shut up Stephen. 36:26 Dr. Schultz *REALLY* didn't want to shake Candy's hand. Raeen is clapping so hard he's probably been heard by the whole village. 😆 36:54 Not Aman being so caught in the thick of the action to actually miss Dr. Schultz's death. 🙈 37:13 Watermelons 🍉 37:37 Aman and Raeen are officially in Django's posse. 🐎🐎 38:26 The sharp transition from Aman and Raeen fooling around like idjits to them realising Django is imprisoned and hanging by his feet had me wheezing. 🤣 39:40 Morality 101 with Professor Babu. 41:22 *DJANGOOO!!!* 😆 42:28 Django is raising hell. Raeen is SO on board with that. 👍 43:11 True Love 101 with Professor Aman. 45:09 Django is about to blast Stephen to oblivion. Babu, sweetly: _bYe ByE_ 🤣 45:36 Django strikes the pose. Everybody: 🎉👏👏👏🎉 48:11 About mud in the streets vs mud in people's heart. 50:27 Shout out to Leo! 51:02 Shout out to Christoph! 51:30 Babu sings for us about how humans should love other humans. Hear, hear. ❤

Inglorious Basterds or Fury is a must watch for them!
@Trazynn Жыл бұрын
They're both great movies. But do Fury _before_ Inglorious Bastards. Fury is a serious war movie and Inglorious Basterds is satire. Watching a satire WW2 movie before watching a serious WW2 movie is confusing (and yes they've already seen serious WW2 movies, but better to safe the satire for later).

Fury is a really good movie and I'm someone who doesn't like war movies.
