here we are again! i hope you guys will enjoy my cover of villain! everyone involved just did so well and i'm so happy to finally bring this out to you!
this cover has actually been recorded for months now, i think the original file dates back to january but i just never had enough time to work on it :( so you're hearing some pretty ugly old vocals right now, which i really really have to thank luna for saving! without's luna's vocal magic and swampy's beautiful art, this cover wouldn't even be a fraction of as cool! they really carried this on their backs and i am SO SO grateful! go give em some love!

The character is specifically transmasc (the "pretending" line is sarcastic in the same way the idea of being a villain is sarcastic) BUT it's not wrong to take it away from the context of the character themself and read it from a transfem pov either, because it's just meant to be a trans power anthem. Identity of the singer aside, it's not "about" any specific identity; the whole point of the song is basically saying to all trans people "Society wants to make you a villain for being who you are, so tell them to go fuck themselves. Be crafty and play this role to the very end because that's how you survive." And that's just for anyone under the umbrella! Edit: to be clear on where I'm getting the transmasc thing from; the official manga based on the song. Also titled "Villain." The story itself is mostly just okay... I recommend "Dear Society" over it lol

@@chocomelo454in the original video, most likely the changing colors of the hair represent the gender she actually represents when she's in public rather versus who she really is. It changes blue during chorus because she wishes she were really a boy and so she presents herself like that in public (also represented by the lines saying she hates her life). Thus, the character is probably a girl just with short hair :|
