Random fact : Edogawa Ranpo (mentionned at 1:30) is a japanese author known for his mystery novels... But also for his researches about male homosexuality. There's actually some facts that might prove he was gay himself, though he apparently denied it. Just thought it might be an important clue for understanding this song :)

Some people say this is about a trans (ftm, mtf or nb) person and their struggle with their gender, plus the person they love. Some people say this is about a gay guy that feels guilty for loving another guy. And some people say it's about gender dysmorphia. Either way, this song touches on great points with the line "To the people who doesn't know me, I am already the villain." (It was the english translation i found in miy_yuu's cover lol) Indeed, to the close people that doesn't want to understand you and outsiders, you are already the villain from start. Be proud of being a villain.

If you thing about it it’s actually really messed up that these people(those mentioned above and probably more) are just seen as “villains” in some peoples eyes and are never given a chance. Which can lead to them never being able to be themselves and always trying to fit in and be (massive air quotes) normal (massive air quotes)
@onettaviator53962 жыл бұрын
I'm like 90% sure this is about somebody who's actually both trans (my personal guess is MTF?) *AND* bi / gay. Since both their gender and their sexuality is leading to them being "villainized." Stared at while holding hands, for how they dress, everything.
@safidraws2 жыл бұрын
@@onettaviator5396 well kind of. The song isn't about one specific person but about the sort of struggles lgbt people (specifically japanese LGBT people) are subjected to in society. The focus is both on attraction and gender and how people who don't conform to society's ideas of normality get judged. That includes trans people but also gender non confirming, gay and bi people. Holding hands in Japan in and of itself goes against socital standards, PDA in general is frowned upon, so add being LGBT to that and you are bound to be judged by those around you. It's a commentary on how living as yourself openly is still not really posible, especially with the current political views in Japan. The song is intentionally being vague so anybody in the community can relate to it. If you aren't straight and Cis just living peacefully can feel impossible because the whole world tells you you are the villain.

There's so many great lines in this version, I'm amazed. I could quote even just one of the first ones: "I'm not a freak of nature; it's just the way that I've matured" but that'd do a disservice to all the other ones, notably the ones where you make words overlap from one sentence to the next that work so well, the "hated by life" changed the second time around, and all the parts that are spoken (on Rampo, on the word ai (that was hilarious) or the simple "Problem?"). I love it; and also, thank you so much for your care doing this, and the simple fact that you did. It means a lot.
