Yeah I’m with Roshi and Sheera on this one. Aoyama wasn’t trying to be nefarious or anything like that. He didn’t want to do it but he had no choice and feels deep regret for what he did. Not only did his parents cause this but he was just put in an impossible situation he couldn’t walk away from. Which I think one of the reasons why Class 1-A was able stand up for him was because they probably realized they’d do the same thing if they were in his position. I mean I feel like almost anyone would in this case. It was either do what AFO says or die a grizzly death along with your parents. And with most of what we know about AFO on top of stuff I know he did in the manga, he’s just not one to be messed with. *MINOR MANGA SPOILER AHEAD* Let’s just say someone crossed him and he ended up wiping out their entire bloodline. He said he killed every man, woman and child that person was connected too. So AFO’s definitely about it and not someone to be involved or messed with.

We finally have our traitor reveal. Btw, the line, "I have friends to spare" with the closeup shot of Invisible Girl actually was the end of a chapter in the manga. Some people thought she was the traitor because of that. While other people thought she was actually looking at the traitor. I was in that second group. But boy was it a chaotic wait. I also love how Touya just does not care at all for AFO's rants or talking. It doesn't seem like anyone from the League likes him very much. Which makes sense. They all came together to work with Shigaraki. Not AFO. So he's basically a stranger to them that is now trying to hold the reins. An outsider, if you will.

The identity of the traitor was meant to be revealed back in the Forest Train arc, but due to poor reception for the arc in Japan the author cut it short and scrapped any other plans to fast track to the Kamino arc. So it got pushed back for years and hence it the reveal happened so abruptly and awkwardly

Honestly, I'm fine with it culminating towards the end of the series. It makes sense there would be a pause of activity since AFO was in jail for awhile so Aoyama thought he could chill. Then he broke out and AFO had Deku under his influence to ware down until the class saved him to go back to UA, so then AFO could ask for favors again. Because if it happened at the end of camp arc in S3, there would be less opportunity to add some building to Aoyama's character that we got in S3 license exam arc and S4 before the cultural festival arc. To actually show something from him having a dynamic with some of the class and Deku.

I also expected Invisible Girl to be the mole for the same reasons Sheera said, but am kinda happier that it was Laser Boy. His character gets more nuance with how he wanted to shine brightly but literally can't cuz he has to keep a low profile as a mole. It also adds insult to injury cuz Yuga's parents went to All For One for a quirk and he gave their son the stomach laser quirk that gives him a stomachache if used too much.
