Vocals must be present whether your own or a teammates voice. Creating your own instrumental is still absolutely allowed! It's a detail I have yet to add to the rule doc as I accidentally left it in my rule drafts and didn't copy it into the final rules 😔

How do you go about legally covering songs to later monetize those covers? Do you manage to get in contact with the original artists? Do you have to pay a 700$+ creative license? Do you create an original track each time to make the cover your own? I have been wanting to get into doing covers as a professional liberal arts major fresh out of college, but this is the stuff they don’t teach ya. I want to do covers but avoid being copy striked if possible.

But if I may ask, is it possible I could get your vtuber/monarch model to make art for my cover? I'm more of a 3d artists (as of now) then 2d and don't trust my skills to do 2d to make something good. For it to count as an original instrumental it must be from scratch. Modifying the instrumental would more so be considered remixing in a way. Hope that helps o/

Someone else asked this question too! After discussing with Amanda we chose that the only way we'd allow usage of an utau/synthV if you were to create your own instrumental bc you might not be the only person using the same utau and hence we'd have too similar entries like that. Hope that helps!
