@@villapinstriping May I ask why you advised not to start with black or metallic colors? What makes them so difficult? I really wanted to practice with silver because that is what I was planning on using for my project.

@@Turco949 Black is super thick and requires more reducing. Metallics usually don't lay down very consistently, they usually leave streaks and require a few passes. As somebody starting out, it's just ban unnecessary obstacle that you may want to avoid. It's just a suggestion, you could always try and figure out silver and it work out just fine. Ya never know

Thank you I haven't bought anything yet of the professional 1shot painting equipment. I have been using rustolum paint and a long wip brush I made using a paint brush and I made a paint brush using hair from the barbershop that I've been painting pretty cool signs and a lot of people been liking my work. Most important thing is paint consistency . Proper palletting -- always final pallet on fresh newsprint not getting a false feel from palleting on your pile of paint [ wrong amout of drag.] You are feeling for a certain drag.

I have the same brushbox Villa, I've had it for over two decades now and it is a very important feature to have in your stiping kit because it keeps your long lines brushes nice and straight. I keep all of my brushes in this kit oiled with thirty wieght motor oil. I also cut a piece of cardboard to the shape of the box and slide it umderneath the springs to give my long lines brushes a flat surface to rest on.

Well the guy who turned me on to what was needed and what was waste uses pretty much everything you use and I’d bet he is older than both of us combined. Great video thanks I hesitate to get started reading a lot of people expect to pay or talk about paying 100.00 for lines on a car because they can use stick on stuff for that kind of cash. I’d figure 50.00 for a name on a helmet any less and it not worth having to clean the brushes. Great info could have done without the commercials but we all could say that.

Stay away from laquer thinner all together, it's way too agressive for cleanig brushes and will totally ruin some plastics. I have used mineral spirits for thining, but benzine I belive is better because it evaporates quicker and you can use it as a degreeser as well. Great video!

@villapinstriping
@villapinstriping 3 ай бұрын
It's just something that needs to be learned. Clearing requires a few light coats over 1 shot before going full blast. Making sure the 1 shot is dry also helps. Adding hardener can greatly increase the odds in your favor. Just something that needs to be tested for you to understand how it will react

Sarah_d_makeupartistry So please remember to use clear mineral spirits (not the milky white stuff)... Low Temp reducer should only be used to reduce, not to clean. Please try my method of using (Lacquer thinner 1st wash... Then Mineral Spirits 2nd wash. Wipe at the base of the hair in between. Repeat as many times as needed. As long as you keep them well oiled they should be fine.

Hi, the better brush oil is Neatsfoot oil. It is a leather dressing and derived from animals. It is not as harsh as a minerals oil, after all the brush hairs are normally animal hairs. It is available from saddlery shops. Must be 100% pure and not mixed with mineral oil or bees wax. I have sign brushes that are 30 years old and still pull nice lines. Cheers from New Zealand.

Thank you Mr. Villa! Im this close to dipping my brush into paint for the 1st. time. I was wondering if I can just get by with the mineral spirits or do I really need the laquer thinner too?. I also heard you say that black paint is not good to start with but that's the color I have.
@villapinstriping
@villapinstriping 3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely you can get by with just mineral spirits! If you can learn to work the black paint you'll be able to work all of them :) it will just require a little more finesse to reduce properly. It'll be just fine sir

@villapinstriping
@villapinstriping 5 жыл бұрын
@@potror9289 No need for clear coat. It will not fade away if you clean the surface properly. You have to make sure the paint has zero wax or grease on the original paint job before adding the pinstriping.
