Hi Pete I don't have this lens but have had my eye on it for a while. It's wide view, despite its ability to distort on the edges, it is just what I'm looking for to keep me on my toes.

The low light ability of the Viltrox is awesome. I was pleasantly surprised at how the distortion seems minimal in close up portraits. Thanks for this video.

Pete..how do you set up the XT5 with this lense for groups and try to maintain focus on about 8 -12 faces?

You’ll have to prioritize a face as your focal point and stop down.

@@kingsamvisuals Thanks Sam. I use Wide Tracking, S mode, P priority, optometry wide with XC 18 at about 18, f 18- 22. Still get some InFocus faces.

Stop down the lens as suggested, and pick one face to focus on. I also try to get the faces as close together on the same focal plane as possible. If you have a lot of space in between the front part of the group and the rear part, the chance of the rear being out of focus is much higher.

I like the 13mm more for human portrait compare to my 56mm since it give me equal image of what I see on the mirror, but only if take it close to the object. That is why for video, I really love the way I look with this lens. I only got the 56mm recently just for object portrait like animal to not intimidated them.

Are you asking if this lens is optimized for the new 40mp sensor? I don't know and it really doesn't matter to me. I think the whole optimized vs. non-optimized thing is overblown. I'm just judging the images for whether or not they look great. 😃

​@@PeteCocoPhoto It's actually a very valuable question to talk about lens IQ, having better iQ not only allows for better cropping capability but also pulls detail out of scenes with a lot to look at like landscape, fashion portraits, architecture and the like. Not to mention when going to print it makes the difference between a house picture and a museum quality shot

Great video and great photos. This is a lens that truly sets itself apart in the photography world. A 19/20-ish mm lens with an incredibly fast f/1.4 aperture for APS-C...this lens immediately became part of my mandatory travel kit and I use it all the time. For video?! I'm blown away. It focuses smoother than Fuji lenses - especially when manually focused.

Thank you! I'm not sure if this lens is considered "optimized" for the 40mp sensor like some Fuji lenses are, but that's really not an issue for me. If the lens performs well and gives me sharp, detailed images with excellent color, I'm happy! 🙂
