My personal experience at dimly lit events, f2.8 is the baseline if i would still want to freeze motion without sacrificing too much on iso. At this price point, the viltrox 20 F2.8 is an absolute bargain especially for vloggers. Pretty sure Viltrox just annouced their own version of the 40 F2.5 too. I've recently added the smaller G primes to reduce the size of my systems and have started bringing out the camera a lot more.

@Eatmeraw Thanks for sharing, I agree with you. Recently I've found smaller prime lenses more useful than zoom lenses, but I used to be an absolute zoom lens person😅😅

Just bought the lens and put on my apsc sony a 6000. The results were awesome.

This lens is very tiny so can be a good combination for apsc setup.

Good review. The value for money and the size makes this a very tempting lens to get. For now I'm more interested in the Viltrox 28mm F1.8 though. That one plus the Samyang 45mm F1.8 would make a nice prime lens combo for the A7C (or the A7Cii or A7CR of course)

Thanks for supporting! I used to think versatile zoom lenses or large aperture fast lenses are more appealing, but now I think the lens that I wouldn't hesitate to bring with me (compact lenses) are the best.

I don't have a chance to try sel20 f2.8, but I think the viltrox 20 f2.8 is quite good for vlogging on my zve10, the focal length and size is perfect.

I have purchased this lens and had to return it. Reasons: 1) Vignette. 2) lens image going blurred after trying to focus on a particular subject for a while. It did not correct it self after re-focussing or even turning off and on the camera. I just had to switch to another lens and settle for it. 3) upgrading instructions are not clear.

Sorry to hear that, I did encounter some vignetting issues, but I think it's easy to fix, haven't experienced any focusing and upgrading problem so far.

Upgrading instructions not clear? ... Use a USB-C plug and plug it into the lens.. plug the other lens into the laptop. Drag the firmware file to the lens that shows up as a drive. done. How complicated was that? That firmware update would correct the first issue you where having. This lens is fantastic considering she's literally using it in her video. Might give it another shot
