VILTROX DC-550 Pro HDMI Issues with 4k 50/60/100/120 fps

While using the VILTROX DC550 Pro I noticed it has issues when I switch to 4k UHD (2160p) 50p (or 60fps, 100fps, or 120fps) on my Sony A7sIII so it has some HDMI communication issues even if the HDMI output settings are set to Auto in Camera which works with the Portkeys PT5 for example.
I actively have to set the output to 1080p when shooting 4k UHD in higher frame rates (it's fine up to 30fps)

This Monitor like all others does support only 4k30 or 1080p60. It's obvious why, hdmi 1.4 that's the limit and that's what viltrox lists. So don't blame the monitor for something it doesn't claim to be able to, do you research before complaining

Yeah the Osee Lilmon seems to be a good option too … but I have to say the LCD panel in in viltrox is great as well good viewing angles, good brightness, colors are good as well especially considering the price of that unit

Hi Michael! Ich hab ein blödes Problem und hoffe du kannst mir vielleicht helfen. Ich habe auch einen DC550 Pro gekauft und habe in etwa dasselbe Problem. Mein Problem ist allerdings das die Viltrox Update Seite 1. komplett auf chinesisch ist aber 2. ich keine Download Datei oder sonstiges finde sondern nur ein LUT Package von dem ich mir nichts kaufen kann.. ich suche ganz verzweifelt die Möglichkeit den Monitor zu aktualisieren. Wenn ich ihn an den PC anschließe (kann man wohl machen) bringt das nichts mir zeigt mein PC nichts an und mein MAC auch nicht. Kannst du mir da irgendwie helfen, dass ich den updaten kann? Finde ich ihn echt super aber andernfalls muss ich mir sonst ein anderes Modell aussuchen wo das leichter geht. Ich danke dir :(

I just got it and one thing really disappoints me: When I shoot films in PAL and pan it, everything is fine. Beautifully smooth image in 25p. But if I'm in the NTSC room then I always have a certain "pumping" in the picture. Panning doesn't look clean on the monitor, regardless of whether it's 24 or 30p. A pity. There doesn't seem to be any firmware update either. Then the device will probably go back.

but it doesn't show autofocus to the eye?... How do I get all the data on the camera screen to appear?

set your camera to only send to the HDMI and not both the LCD on the camera and the HDMI out simultaneously. On Canon, that's how i got it to work

@@Awthentik Well, I'm afraid Sony doesn't contemplate the option of both screens at the same time. Cloning all the information that appears on my camera's lcd to the external camera AT THE SAME TIME, was not in Sony's plans. This is absurd.

I don’t think this monitor was ever built to show 4K 60. That’s not a product issue that’s your issue.

well, indeed it is a 1080p panel but the input does support 4k up to 30fps ... and now after the update the HDMI port does "communicate" correctly with the camera

Sadly my monitor stopped working before I even was able to install the new firmware… so I can’t test it

Day 3, turned it on less than a handfull of times and it just gave me a blue screen of death with blue lights running horizontal on the screen.

That is not good ... I think they had issues with the 1st batch of Monitors/Panels... my 1st one was not working at some point anymore as well... but they replaced my monitor.

well, hard to answer right now ... I'll have to wait for a firmware update and use it a bit more to give a true final verdict ... so far can say it's a solid monitor, nothing special tho ... the only thing that is a bit odd, the monitor has a fan for cooling and it might be a bit too noisy if you shoot interviews in a quiet studio environment... will have to test this a bit more and explain in my full hands-on video next month. Also, seems not to be available at amazon and so on yet, so if you need/want a monitor now... maybe look for other options...

@@anasmodamani933 no, it’s the only monitor I have that has a fan … having said that non of them are as bright as this 1200 nits (claimed) will need some cooling and my PT5 for example (only 500 nits) will get quite warm over time but I guess good and quiet cooling solutions are a bit more expensive and the monitor would have been more expensive

@@anasmodamani933 you can set the fan speed to low in the menu but have to do that every time you power it on … at least with the current firmware… like i said it’s not the best for studio interview setups or on camera setups but outdoors with a wireless lav mic or something like that it’s no problem in my experience
