That song was a mega smash Lagos Nigeria in the earliest 90s , for real I was a kid then and hanging out with my older cousins house during the summer holidays were amazing at thirty house parties and the DJ playing naughty by nature OPP most as it was the hit song that year summer , gives me nostalgic vibes when I hear that song takes me back to the good ole 90s my first year in secondary school I was 10years old kid 😂😂😂🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬

Same here!!! In France and I was the same age!!! 😂😂😂 Huge part of my life's soundtrack!!!! In Nigeria though it was probably crazy to live it over there. It's funny that you guys had" summer" songs over there!!! Isn't it summer all throughout the year?!!! Lol What about will Smith's summer time? Was it bangin over there when it came out?!

The sun is in Naija for the whole year but for some unclear reason, probably what Naija picked and kept from the Colonial era, the school holidays or breaks were named after the white folks seasons😂 but we know our summer is year round and we love it that way bc our behinds don't have to freeze😂

Nah, he owns the publishing rights. If you sample his shit, a huge hit like ABC with goddamn Michael Jackson on lead vocals, and make it the foundation of your new song talking about pssy and shit, why would you expect to get much songwriting credit? If you sample sht then you have to pay. 15% of an worldwide hit is still significant, on top of the fact that it jumpstarted their stalled career after that New Style sht bricked.

@@Ronthaldd Nah I can think of a handful of things that explain why we're always last ahead of not giving no name *ss groups with no fanbase 50% of publishing on hit songs with the most well known singer on the planet on lead vocals. High rate of fatherless homes, high rate of incarceration, poor credit ratings, etc. That song made their career and saved them. They got a great deal. 15% of a worldwide hit is better than 100% of a flop. If you asked them if they would do it again for 10% if they had to, then they would.

That's the whole objective of publishing rights. Berry Gordy owns the rights to the music they sampled.. I sample but I can't hate Berry Gordy. That comes with borrowing someone else's composition 😀

I can understand taking some of the publishing but not 85 percent. That’s excessive considering it’s essentially just a loop of a single bar played over and over again. Lyrics, which typically comprise 50 percent of songwriting credit and determining royalty rates, in the case of O.P.P., Gordy and his songwriting team at Motown had nothing to do with.

I have a simple solution. Discover artists that can actually play musical instruments instead of rappers that only write lyrics. Then, these rappers would have music/lyrics rights. You can't use copyrighted music and not expect lawsuits. What do you think would happen if someone uses the O.P.P. lyrics without consent? Lawsuit.
