George Jones said James Taylor could never write a country tune. James then wrote Bartender's Blues. Then George had a #1 Hit with it. Then George changed his mind about James.
@jamesbates74575 жыл бұрын
James Taylor wrote this song specifically for George Jones.
@drumlover16875 жыл бұрын
Don't ever challenge someone who was decades later inducted into the songwriters Hall of Fame. But somehow I think old George Jones knew exactly what he was doing back then. And he got a #1 hit out of it.

Wonderful performance. James Taylor wrote the song many years ago. I'm always amazed by the range of the types of songs he writes. Not as well-known for his songwriting as his singing, but he should be.
@cherylmohr49748 жыл бұрын
Absolutely right. Voices are fairly common but the lyrics...the poems. We need to always remember who wrote those words, no matter the song.
@tcammann24377 жыл бұрын
Sorry but he did not write the song, the late and great George Jones wrote it
@GBPLVR7 жыл бұрын
T Cammann, George Jones sang this but I do believe if one will search it out James Taylor did write the hit song That Jones recorded.
@climberbob17 жыл бұрын
Sorry folks, but it has ALWAYS been that James writes 99% of his works. Over his first 15 albums or so, you might get one song every other album that he DIDN'T write, but people still thought he did. Off hand I think of "you've got a friend", "handyman", "up on the roof". To me, James is the 2nd best male lyricist of all time. he paints pictures with his lyrics. The only one I'd put above him is Jackson Browne. Joni Mitchell gets the nod for female artists!

Most shows sold out. Fact. He is not a “showman”, but he has a beautiful tone to his voice...
@lous54425 жыл бұрын
First off that is your opinion. I went to see him live numerous times. The one that sticks in my memory was at Blossom Music Center near Akron OH in 1983. "Steamroller Blues". Was he a rocker who made frantic histrionics part of his act?...Nope, but he also had a stage presence that couldn't be denied in true live-as opposed to "live" on camera-performances.
