Notice how many great country acts played in this video? Each and every musician was an accomplished act on their own yet they loaned their talents to a friend. Do they still do that today or no?

Blame people like Faith Hill, she was a great voice as a country singer...then she went mainstream and turned it into pop. Since then, country has never been the same.

@@andrewhiggins3066 LOL Country music veered into pop LONG before Faith Hill! The blame belongs to the music industry and labels that dictate what gets recorded - not the artists. Only established artists could buck the pop trend and record traditional songs. But that went all the way back to Dolly (who did her fair share of mainstream), and we've all heard Crystal Gayle, whose style could hardly be called "traditional." That country has been whitewashed there's no doubt. But Faith was not the reason why.

@@sadee1287 Agreed, but he said "LIKE" Faith Hill. An artist could say screw that, I'm not singing that. Sure, there's consequences, but as the song goes, "You've got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything." Just my two cents.

Vince is the entire package -- great singer, great songwriter, talented multi-instrumentalist. Probably because of all the bands he worked with on his way up, ranging from bluegrass to pop, and because of all of the extensive session work he did before, during, and after his fame, he could play and sing just about anything. There is a reason his is the king of the country Grammy’s. I struggle to think of anyone who compares to him. He did virtually unnoticed session guitar work on relatively obscure records when he was still big and had no need to do such a thing. As much as you can tell about any celebrity, I think he is about as humble about his talents and grateful for his success as anyone of his stature I’ve seen.

I totally agree with you. He earned well deserved the Irving Waugh Award of Excellence at 48th annual CMA award show this year. A Rolling Stone article said "He is the Best living legend and Bemoan the preponderance of pop in country music all you like, but cherish the fact that a true legend - and gentleman - is still working today." I enjoyed his performance with Sting in 2011 in NY. With a rocker on the same stage he still shone with his versatile talent. Yes, he can do just about anything.

Just love this song and all of the performers that bring back wonderful memories for me. This awesome group consist of, but not limited to Wynonna Judd, Steve Earle, Bruce Hornsby, Patty Loveless, Kathy Mattea, Lee Roy Parnell, Carl Perkins, Kevin Welch, Kelly Willis, Ralph Emery, Little Jimmy Dickens, Lee Sklar, Michael McDonald, Delbert McClinton, Leon Russell, Pam Tillis, Reba McEntire, Shenandoah and Kentucky Headhunters drummer Fred Young. The storyline in this video was that the aforementioned performers were there to substitute for Gill's band, who were unable to show up. The video also features movie tough man & bouncer Randall "Tex" Cobb Lyrics: We've been up All night long Trying to solve a problem Hell it's almost dawn Ain't no time for sleepin' If our love is wearin' thin 'Cause I ain't givin' up And you ain't givin' in Don't let our love start slippin' Love start slippin' away 'Cause the life we've been livin' Gets harder everyday Don't let our love start slippin' Love start slippin' away A wounded love Walks a real thin line And no communication Will kill it every time So open up your heart Baby we can work it out 'Cause we've got the kind of love People dream about Don't let our love start slippin' Love start slippin' away 'Cause the life we've been livin' Gets harder everyday Don't let our love start slippin' Love start slippin' away

These old movies really make life worth living in these dark ages! Even though the movie is dark & violent, there's a happy component of supernatural elements that make it fun. First time I heard Vince Gill, (because at the time I wasn't watching video and did not realize he had been in Pure Prarie League), I was lying down ready to go to sleep and he came on the radio singing 'Whenever You Come Around" and I thought his voice was like someone I had heard in a southern church choir. (Before he met Amy Grant). I thought to myself, my God what a voice and this must be the most romantic song of this time period. And then I thought why don't I write music like this. Later I started to emulate him in singing and writing. Maybe someday.

Just saw him last night at American Music Theater in Lancaster County, PA. The man is an incredible talent. Played for just about 3 hours none stop. His daughter was on stage with him also. Great talent in her own right. The man can just flat out sing and play the guitar. If you ever get the chance to see his show. Don't even think about it. Just go! Thank you Vince for a great evening!
