That's an exceedingly original motorcycle looking at the paint crazing and the seat that has been skewed to one side with use . Great to see that it's untouched and un restored.

I had one, from the last batch made. Cost in UK at that time was £358 new. The finest m/c ever to ride, the cross wind had no more effect than any other m/c, comfort superb, road holding better than most, and economy at 70 mph gave 70 mpg. Fairing so good could smoke a pipe or cigarette at 70 no problem. With engine at 1000 rpm road speed 26 mph. peak revs were 5,500 rpm.

Good evening Donald. I'm not a motorcycle fan but this was very Interesting and l was aware of the Vincent . A very expensive luxury indeed. Wayne certainly enjoys his motorcycles. Thanks Donald. And many thanks for Richard's vast knowledge and sharing it with us.

Wow, thought he was a mannequin, simply a part of the display. there had been no speech, no movement at all, then, the hands moved!! He still stayed completely immobile till he began speaking, the bike moved more. Fantastic bike, as with many Brit machines of the time-, brilliant technical ideas, under developed due to lack of cash, pity. They were very much ahead of their time, predicting the future cos they went bust before all the rest of the Brit motorcycle industry did a few years later. Also, a pity. Thank you Donald, definitely NOT your standard museum vid and all the better for it

Rollie Free set the land speed record on a Vincent...IN HIS UNDERWEAR!!!

Thankfully, Rollie wasn't wearing pants. The added weight might have prevented his victory.

These were the bikes the Ministry rode in the BBC's version of George Orwell's 1984. It was made in 1955 when the bikes were nearly new. The Vincent Owners Club lent a hand in the riding duties . The Vincent Black Prince, still sinister and dangerous looking after all these years.

Vincent invented some great things but had bad luck when demonstrating them, such as personal water craft, a seadoo if you will, the operator drowned after it caught fire. They invented the brush cutter but at the demonstration the blade broke off and went a hundred yards into the scrub. They had a RC drone called Pegasus, that would have towed a target for anti aircraft fire that crashed due to very low cloud that blocked visibility. The Pegasus motor could run at redline for 24 hours due to its caged crank bearings, something that the crowded bearings in the bike engines could not. If only.

if these were made again it would probably be in a factory in India or Asia ...

Vincent motorcycles are fine motor bikes. The Black Knight was ahead of its time and as an expensive luxury bike. It however did not come with an optional umbrella to deal with the nasty British weather. That may have been a factor in its low sales numbers that lead to its demise.
