I had Pat Carey knock on my door once canvassing for votes around Glasnevin in 07, he heard my Scouse accent as I ripped him a new one (J Larkin would have been proud) he said 'You Scousers' I laughed and I said 'You Debt collecters and Undertakers' from that his handlers quickly moved him on- even his voice sounds as grey as his demenaour.

@Dermodermo010672 I'm a jounalist myself and I can vouch for Vincent's earnings. I get 12 cents per word providing it is printed. If you are not printed you don't get paid. Pay for journalists in Ireland is at the thin edge of the wedge. If you are a Barrister you can get €20,000 for three days work.

As bad as it sounds, having a minimum wage isn't as great as you might think. It means that people with low skills who are worth €5 to an employer cant be hired legally. Thus they turn to black market labour which is risky and illegal but earns them money. Or they can go on social welfare and become long-term unemployable and a burden to the state.
