Great shooters always do the same thing before they pull the trigger and they credit having a pre-shot routine to their success. Two-time Olympic gold medalist Sgt. Vincent Hancock of the Army Marksmanship Unit shows you how to establish your Pre-Shot Routine.

After the shot, you look like your in a race to get the shells out and knocked to the ground. Is that just a personal technique, or is there a competitive reason behind it?

I would like to ask you, is it be possible to hit a clay target with 28" barrel at the limit of shooting distance for 30" barrel shotgun? For example, if shooting limit for 30" barrel shotgun is lets say 70 yards, will it be possible to hit the same distance target with 28" barrel shotgun?

Absolutely. Barrel length does have some play in velocity and mildly tighter patterns, but 28" is to 30" you will hardly notice. Longer barrels provide more stability. That's why many shooters like 30", 32", and on some single shot trap guns you would even see 34" barrels. It's because it helps stabilize the swing better.

@@prestonschultz3076 Thank you very much Preston for clear explanation. Now I understand difference and will not run after the barrel length. 👍👍👍

@@prestonschultz3076 - Good point. It speaks to the reason that I prefer 28" for skeet. I want more barrel speed for skeet. The slightly shorter barrel helps me with that.

@@hawkshawhawkins9273 I've got 32" on my 686 Beretta sporting. But it is a relatively light and well balanced gun. My old browning citori had 28" but swing like a brick compared to the 686.

Why throw your hulls on the ground if you have them in your hand after the shot? Bad form.

Not bad form if you don't want to keep them. By catching them or batting them to the ground, the shooter is controling them so they don't hit or otherwise distract the referee or his squad mates. It's a matter of courtesy in my opinion.
