Aloha and thanks SSG Richmond as newbie to the sport I knew the positions but your elevation tips is a first. Resently joined ATA and today will be my first registration shoot at Schofield Barracks. Looking forward to viewing your future posts. LTC Kam, USAR, Retired.

THE POINT IS TO move the barrel slightly ahead of the clay pigeon if it rises. Do not aim to shoot. Just pull the triger when the barrel points above the clay. There is about 3seconds from seeing and shooting. After that it is too late.

If someone wants to know and they come back and watch the point for the huge rail is so that it's easier for you to aim the Shotgun and have a greater chance if hitting the bird!

I haven't shot trap since I was a teenager twenty years ago and that was from our own thrower at the dumps! :) Would you kindly tell me the purpose of that gigantic rail? Just asking because I seriously have never seen one. All we ever used was a standard Remmy 1100. Thanks for a good video.

Ok I get the hold points now. But.... where are your eyes focused? (Focal points) while your gun is on these “hold points”?!?!
@USArmyMarksmanshipUnit4 жыл бұрын
Sgt. 1st Class Richmond said, "Generally my eyes are set slightly above the gun with my focus being in front of the trap house and not on the barrel. My goal is to be able to see the target exit, or flash, and lock onto the bird as it is becoming a whole or clear target. My eyes and hold points do move up and down depending on weather and how the targets are set, if it is a consistently low or high flying target due to these variables. Fine tune this. Be moving it up and down to see where you personally settle in the best and can pick the target up upon exiting the house."
