I was born in December of 1965. One night while I was 8 and my little brother was 6, my dad turned off all the lights and had us listen to a story about little green men coming out of a spaceship to take over the earth. From that moment, I've loved old-time radio-- horror, comedy, sci-fi, thriller, etc.

@@keithmccaslyn2527 I was born August ‘65, I still remember , my mom watching, Vincent Price, Christopher lee, Peter Cushing, I used to sit on the stairs looking through glass doors, to the T.V, without my parents knowing…then as I got older, could legitimately watch, the Hammer House of Horror, I think it was called, I not brave enough to be a “horror fan”..yet I loved everything than anyone of them were in, more so, when I heard them on the radio….yes, wonderful memories…😁👍

I met Vincent Price! He came to our county college in Cranford, New Jersey around 1973 to promote a book. I had been a big horror fan throughout childhood. So when I heard about it, at age 17, I drove over and attended his lecture. After he finished speaking he asked if anyone had any questions. Well I jumped up and started waving my arms and shouting from the back of the auditorium to get his attention because I wasn't going to miss my only chance to ever speak to him. I was so excited. I was the first one he called on and I told him I loved him and he said he loved me too! Then I told him which of his movies were my favorites. At the end I said, please quit smoking because we want you around for a long time. Ironically, it turned out that he died of lung cancer. My favorite movies are House on Haunted Hill, The Last Man on Earth and The Tingler.....all very unique plots. I enjoy hearing his voice in these radio shows. If anyone else attended the same lecture as me, reply with your experience. (almost 50 years later, nuts huh?) Oh, additionally, my aunt from Ohio met Boris Karloff in the 1950s on a train trip. They sat across from each other and my aunt said he was very nice, mild mannered man and he told her he was afraid of mice during their conversation. Lol, don't ask me how that topic came up.

I never met him but I heard about an incident involving him in Atlanta, Georgia at a movie theater downtown. When The Tingler was first released , he attended incognito at a theater and sat behind two young ladies. When the movie was over and the lights came on he asked them , with a diabolical smile on his face , " enjoyed the film ladies? " They screamed and ran out of the theater!

My Grandma had a huge collection of all old time radio from Fibber and molly, Bergan and mccarthy, Great Gildersleave etc. She bought me a pillow speaker and I started listening to them as a kid in late 80s. When she passed we had tge funeral on my birthday. Family can be idiots and just suck sometimes. I asked if I could have that collection. I was able to get around 300 tapes. She'd buy them in sets when offered, then sets in cd. Some was already gone when I got there. I wish I had them all. I was very angry that I dint get tge entire collection. Now that it's on YT I can be happy again. Today's TV, movies etc are just remakes of old media. It sucks. I spend most of my time with old radio shows. It's great to not be stuck staring at a screen. I can do whatever I need to and listen. I'm glad that so many ppl are listening to these shows. The folks who started in Vaudeville worked very hard, got paid little and really had some great talent. I'm glad some made it to radio then TV. Also being able to see what these ppl looked like for real is so awesome. After all the years of hearing the voices it's nice to put faces to them. Hope everyone enjoys as much as I do. Thank you to all who put this content out.

Wow those ads are powerful. Im tea total but Roma wine is still in my head when the ads have moved onto some uber sparkplugs. Vincent is also pretty memorable . What a lovely way to spend an afternoon Thank so much👍

Superb steam radio 🙂👍 In South Africa 60's on commercial radio, we tuned in weekly on FM, to listen on late night Saturday, to ' The Creaking Door....' "Good evening and welcome to another episode of the... Creaking-Door!" Cue the organ😧😦😮😈

Love listening to these radio horror shows. Still listen on AM radio. I can only imagine when there was no tv. Suspense make you fall asleep.

We didn’t have a tv growing up and listened to mystery theater on the radio. We did watch Walt Disney on Sundays at my grandparents house.
