I've been hoping for some downward auto-scrolling subterrene gunship levels (with Super Mario 2 US digging capabilities) But I'm just realizing now that World 2 would be a good place for that

What I like about this hack is that most of the levels feel like they should have been in the original game (Assuming that these types of levels might have been possible possible to design on the original NES)

Maybe. But they're still just variations on the same old platforming challenges. So there's only so much variety they can give you; past that point it starts feeling stale/old/repetitive, which is what happens a lot in these videos.
