I only listen and study up on all the behind the scene's, its yet to full be confirmed wheather it was JR or vince russo. My point to you was you can never use a wrestling brodcast commentary in a debate like this, its carefully scripted material i know you have to understand that. So by him appearing to botch the name then having king correct him makes it stick in our minds at home. This all only serves to lean in the direction of JR really did come up with the rock persona as opposed to vince russo. The story goes JR saw deion sanders in a post game interview referring to himself like deion says this deion says that and he simply said have him statt saying the rick says this and that. Russo says he just randomly thought of it with nothing in particular serving as inspiration. JR is a well known football fanatic so it just seems to ring far more true that JR came up with it and he would be the type of man to not care about taking credit for that or even remembering at this point lol 😆. My only point to you was the commentary is the one thing that is fully non improvised and exactly what vince wants presented to the audience.

When it comes to speaking up for Paul Boesch (the guy who gave Bruce his start) and having to paint Vince in a bad (but true) light, he buries Boesch and is blowing Vince. You would want someone being interviewed to be honest and give the fans something that they never knew, not some made up bullshit to keep WWE happy in the remote case they might give you a call. There are people like JJ Dillon who were cagey about breaking Kayfabe, but didn't seem to be kissing anyone's ass. Bruno always seemed honest in his KC interviews. Then there is Bruce on is Houston interview: Let's see. In the blue corner, decorated WW2 hero who won a Purple Heart and Silver Star, who was known as one of the fairest pay off men in wrestling, who had the reputation that his handshake was gold and wouldn't renege on a deal and who NOBODY in pro wrestling history has ever said a bad word about VS In the red corner, the man who is known to use any underhanded trick in the book, who made deals and reneged on them (Stu Hart, Bret Hart 20 year contract, etc), who "allegedly" bribed the police to kill the Snuka murder investigation, who threatened PPV companies if they ran Starrcade 87, who stole territories TV slots and talent (and by stealing talent, I mean literally meeting them in secret and they give no notice and just leave their current company in the shit), who used his power to block arenas from being used by other companies and who everybody has a bad word to say about. Yeah, I believe Bruce on that one. 100% truthful and he doesn't have his head up Vince's ass.

This is why I quit listening to Bruce's show. It was entertaining until he started finding the truth in order to keep the WWE narrative. I hate to put a conspiracy theory out there but consider this: WHAT IF WWE contacted the Rock, and as a professional courtesy, asked him not to mention Vince Russo, and the Rock was receptive to this request?, after all, the Rock doesn’t have that bad a memory, he knows full well who Russo is, and how “help” he received with his career and from whom. Russo said so himself that the Rock even “saying his name” would help him. Im sorry, Vince Russo is lying about how much control he had at WWF. Anyone who doesnt understand what the head of creative's job at WWE at this point is by now. Vince McMahon runs WWE's creative. They have a team of writers now, everything on their TV goes through vince. And that is 5 hourse of weekly tv. You think 20 years ago, with 2 hours of tv a week that Vince McMahon let someone else handle ALL of the creative for TV and PPV? The rock and Austin did their own promos. They would tell Vince what they wanted to do, but nothing was written. Vince Russo wrote approximately ZERO of the rock or austin's promos. The evidence of this is to look at their promos after Russo was gone. Wow, its almost like nothing changed. Its like they both got better and added catch phrases to their repertoire. Vince Russo handled the mid card, and pitched ideas to Vince. Vince McMahon then used whatever ideas he likes. This is what McMahon's head's of creative have always done

We like to hear why things were done the way they were, what might have happened, who might have left or come in, etc. You don't have to be a fan of a particular person's booking or ring work to accept that they were there and might have some stories or give some background on things that captured our imagination back in the day. It's a shame that people like Bruce, who have over 30 years and must have some amazing stories and bits of information to tell has to resort to lying and kissing WWE's ass all of the time instead of just telling people the truth. You might not be intelligent enough to have ever noticed this, but most DVDs and BluRays of TV shows or movies have "extras" that are interviews, documentaries, "the making of", etc, so guess what, people who were fans of something enjoy getting behind the scenes looks and stories about the show that they were a fan of. Podcasts, shoot interviews, etc are wrestling fan's "extras" and we would at least like the truth. Bruce has Stockholm Syndrome and just wants to blow Vince and WWE at the expense of the truth in the hope they'll give him a job again some day.

Not disagreeing with Vince Russo here but I'd like to say that the real proof should come from Dwayne Johnson. I don't believe a clip from an Oprah interview stands up as Dwayne could be generalizing the story for a mainstream audience. Referencing Vince McMahon who has more name recognition for the mainstream audience might have just been an easier way to communicate the story. It's sort of like referencing Steve Jobs as the guy who started the Mac project at Apple when really it was Jef Raskin who started on it two years before Steve came on board. I think there's a bit of that going on here. Thoughts?
