Vince what a ingenious idea with this boulbles! I was trying to achieve this affect on my base for last hobby chalenge by putting small air pockets into resin thru suringe and needle but your way is so much better. As always thanks a lot for your ideas, it must be a lot of good karma in your buscet :)

Great tutorial and superbe effects. Just one that bothers me, the end of the pipe seems a bit too clean for a rust pipe like that. I think it ll add a lot if you have an irregular end. The rust collect at the edge and eat them. Same things on the top some irregular hole will sell the rust eating through the pipe. Anyway it's all ready a wonderful rendition.

Wonderful point and idea, I think I will definitely add that to the next one. You are dead on, can't believe I missed that :)

Just "like" EVERYONE else in the commits thus far. Incredible. Coming up on 20years in the hobby tomorrow, and you always show me something new. Thank you I do have a question: Have you ever cut part of the top of a base off, to model underneath in the, to show depth under the model? Say if the pipes are under his feet? My holly havoc project has a lot of Skaven in the sewers, hands poking threw drains bars. Nothing wrong with building the base up. I thing it just be a nice surprise find in closer review of the miniature if it wasn't built up. Plus every time I build a base up, some one shoots it over the top of another unit cause he can see the feather in his hat. Anyway, never done it before and not looking for surprises half way threw. Thanks Vince

I have never thought about it, seems like it would be possible, but it's not much space to work with. I think in general it's just easier to work up rather than down and suffer the slings and arrows of unfortunate LOS ;)

Trying something new, stay motivated during the lawl of the game. I'm trying to prevent raising every model up off its base. Tired of getting penalties in the game cause I added details. Holy Havoc not far away Go Semi-Narritive!

Vince could you do a tutorial sometime on how u painted the lord of contagion? Like what colors and techniques u used for him.
@VinceVenturella6 жыл бұрын
Sure, I will add the white armor there to the tutorial list. I assume that is the part you are meaning, the rest is all stuff i have covered in other videos (TMM, Weathering and Damage, etc.).
@fredmulvaney75596 жыл бұрын
@@VinceVenturella Thanks Vince. I really liked your LoC. I wanted to start up my Death Guard and go off a scheme like yours. Ya your right about the armor. I can reference your other vids for any weathering etc. Wish you liked those plague Marines more haha. You paint it very well.

Great as always. My problem is that I cant create the story. I have no idea what to do but putting everything together wont be. I think.
@VinceVenturella7 жыл бұрын
Do you mean the narrative of the base? I often find that I just think about a single thing, in this case it was the pipe, then I just build the world in my head around that. What does the area around that pipe look like, what all might it contain? Then I just go from there.
@bartekkucharski38807 жыл бұрын
Vince Venturella yeah. Something like that. Let say I have goblin adventurer. Im thinking about the base for weeks and nothing. Absolutely nothing. That Yeti? No problem. Snow some pillar rubble and done. Maybe Im over thinking? Dunno
@TheRunesmythe7 жыл бұрын
When in doubt, always trust your first instinct; while you may misread them, your instincts are never wrong. My question would be; what comes immediately to mind when you think of a goblin? Me, I think of lots of randomly accumulated junk, muck and mud and mushrooms (that's the GW Night Goblin influence that for some reason has stuck with me) but it may be something completely different for you. I think Vince's advice is great; focus on one element you're sure of, that you absolutely *know* you want on your base and then just let it grow from there.

Another cracking tutorial as ever Vince. Would you mind terribly if linked you KZbin page and hobby cheating vids over on my twitch channel and fb page? Really think they are resources that folk would find super useful and should be aware of (if they aren't already ofc!!) keep up the great work and thx again for all your work. Jan.

Hi Vince, another great video as always. Your series provides a lot of inspiration. You mentioned Vallejo White Pumice - have you ever used Vallejo Black Lava? I currently have a pot that I have partly used and was wondering if it would also work well for urban bases. Also, do you have any experience with crackle paints?
@VinceVenturella4 жыл бұрын
I've used a bunch of them, I like them all, but I use them for the texture, not the color, I always paint over them. It would certainly work great for broken stone, rubble, grit. I've used many crackle paints, I tend to use the GW stuff or AK interactive cracking paste, both of which I like.

Thanks Vince, good to know!

i really enjoy your tutorials on basing , i notice that you use zenithal highlighting a lot , is it fair to say that use techniques that preserve the highlighting more on bases than the actual miniature, just curious ? great stuff thanks
@VinceVenturella7 жыл бұрын
I zenithal prime everything, nearly without exception. It makes painting so much faster and sketches out your highlights. If I could change one thing about how people hobby, it would be to erase painting over black primer from the world ;)
@M0U53B41T5 жыл бұрын
what primer did you use on the paint caps/plastic etc? I've had a lot of trouble getting primer and paint to stick to those! Great tutorial again :D

Just standard Vallejo Surface Primer, same I use on everything. :)

Toxic? No, it's just sand or purified silica,, silicon dioxide. you can eat it, no problem. The bags are marked "do not eat" purely so tht people can't sue the manufacturer if they are silly enough to mistake them for whatever food product they're packaged with, try to eat them, and find they don't taste good.
@VinceVenturella6 жыл бұрын
Good to know. I am probably not eating them anytime soon either way, but good to know.
