Coach Kook is back with another series of GREEN WAVES - this time focusing on how your hands and arms can shift gear and TURBO-CHARGE the turns and carves on your surfskate.
In this second of three clips you’ll learn how to perform a powerful turn and down carve by keeping your arm in MEDIUM gear.
(Soft and grippy wheels help for this one. I ride 65mm 78a Arbor Easy Riders on Carver C7 trucks and the Arbor Tyler Warren 29”x9,875” deck.)
BREAKDOWN:
1. Start your turn high on the wave/bank. Lean on your heelside edge and reach your leading arm straight out behind your shoulder. Keep your eyes focused forward and down the 'wave', not as far back as in a full cutback (see part one for that one).
2. Still on your heels; push through the turn with your back leg and swing your back arm in front of your body for extra power. Keep that front arm still pointing slightly back, but a bit more relaxed.
3. Hold the turn as long as possible! When you feel the carve come to and end, get low and "catch" the speed and energy with your knees bent.
4. Shift all your weight forward onto your toeside-rail, look up towards the "lip" and setup for the next bottom turn.
Thanks for watching! Stay tuned for part three. Don’t forget to like and subscribe for more Surfskate-clips.
