first of all 15 ppm is not huge concern for the corals you have, I've had 160 ppm nitrate and still had corals growing, not suggesting that but just saying nothing to panic second If you have an dosing pump, put the vinegar there so that you do it regularly and not swing the tank by dosing one week and lowering it and then not dosing one week and letting the nitrate rise the next week, stability is the key if you don't have a Dosing pump then add it to ATO and before adding that measure how much water you're evaporating in a week and then add it

Thanks for the tips and you are right I'm stop chasing the nitrates. Corals are doing fine so I was going to leave my tank the way it is thanks a lot for your comment.

Corals like and need nitrates. Very low or undectable nitrates do more harm than good to coral. Also dosing 1ml per 100 gallon isn't enough. Maybe that's why you didnt see a change in reduction.

Is it okay to put vinegar in a freshwater aquarium with fish in it I know not a lot was there a minimum I'm trying to get rid of this bacteria I think it's still water maggots that I have trying to grow in my tank. Long story but what can I do??

Vinegar is carbon dosing bro. If your coral is happy why try lower the nitrates. I run my nitrates at 15ppm and my tank is thriving. I have up years ago chasing numbers your tank will tell you if something isn't right 👍

yes, you're right I give up. My corals are doing just fine I'm tired of changing numbers myself. 👍

Is there a reason you are lowering your nitrates even though you like the way the corals look? I am very new to this hobby but have read a lot about how if the corals look good, don't go changing thing bc instability and fluctuations in water parameters usually cause more trouble. I'm curious if you have had any good results?

The reason I'm trying to lower my nitrates is to reduce algal growth, as it seemed like my invertebrates were not living as long as they should with high nitrates. By lowering my nitrates, it gives me the ability now to feed my fishes a little heavier than I did before.

The issue is that my fish don't tolerate nitrates above 12ppm.

@@CoralsReef24 really thats strange because fish are know to be able to handle high nitrates. How do they act when the nitrates are higher ?

@@Coral-reef. The blue hippo tang starts acting strangely when nitrate levels are high. I posted a video about this a few days ago.
