Man, I remember this game. They had it down at the local video store on one of those homebrew machines that had 4 or 5 games in one. I always remember that the owner had the machine cranked all the way up to 11 on the volume knob because you would hear the attract screens from the other side of the block. Great memories.

The game is pretty hard, yes, and the time limit for the good endings didn't help. Amusingly enough, once you realize that the roundhouse kick wrecks pretty much everything the game becomes much easier :V

The 2010 Splatterhouse is not what I'd call a good game, but it is a very fun game. Certainly one that mainstream critics sorta unjustly tore down. It has some rather grueling problems that you actively need to dig past, but the fundamental gameplay is pretty fun, the soundtrack is fantastic and surprisingly enough, the writing has a some good moments, contrary to what one might think with it's massive, almost childish excess in gore. Beyond that, it also bundles the first 3 games with it, so I'd say it certainly has value.

Splatterhouse as a whole is for sure a cult classic, as for the music on this one. Love it all, it just adds up. The scene wouldn't be as tense and twisted without it Besides, the sequels sure are worth a try. And quite coincidentally the third one has a global timer, just like Dead Rising. Joel the slide kick also works on Biggyman, but it's a bit more dangerous. I prefer to juggle punch him, it's harder to do in the arcade version, because Biggyman can go off screen. It's easier to juggle punch him in the Turbo 16 version of the game. Though the swapping shotguns i'll have to try doing the next time i play either version.

To do a slide kick, you have to do a full jump.for the Boreworm room, you want to go to the right corner and stay there so you don't get assblasted like you would in the middle.

Eddi Hurta true I played the first one at the arcade it was more gross than anything else but I got addicted I wanted to push as far as I could I almost beat that game missed 2 but I got 3 as a rental that game scared me as a kid I was hyped and I mean hyped to see it come back it was so much fun about as much blood and gore as mortal combat. I played that with my boyfriend at the time and beat umups have always had a place in my heart since double dragon and street fighter . but I had a lot of fun unlocked all the old ones and played them remembering just how hard they beat you over the head with difficulty but they were fun too the old games have there charm too.

They have a pcEngine (TurboGrafx) version of this game that is superior in terms of soundtrack, should be easy to emulate with the "magic engine" if you wanna try it. Mostly the same game with just more polish imho.
