After seeing it played through by someone who actually gets invested in beating it, I think this game is actually pretty good. It's like one of those cheesy old low budget, high octane action films, only you get to be part of the action. If I had the money to open arcade, I'd have like three Crime Patrol machines. Now I'm actually really interested in the sequel, it looks like it follows the old tradition of action film sequels upping the ante times ten. XD

All of the pop games of the 90's (Metal Gear Solid, Ocarina of Time, Final Fantasy 7) had a primary focus on story and technical achievement over gameplay. This trend has continued since then while a lot of the games with good gameplay focused design from the 90's (Thief, Half Life, a plethora of western RPGs) have apparently been lost on us. I would be fine with having popular polished turds today if we still got games that advanced in the gameplay department like we did then, but instead the industry has only stagnated. Not even indies are coming up with good stuff.

Skyrim had great potential - but it's easier to play it safe and release a casual game than make something challenging. People have the tendency to go "Oh, this is too difficult, *the game's stupid!* I'm going to play something else!" And because, nowadays, the me generation is in full swing; if someone can't surpass a challenge, they simply find a challenge they can beat. Remember when you'd take whole weekends trying to progress on a game? Remember the satisfaction of actually beating something difficult? It's intoxicating. Good single player games are dumbed down more every year - but it's not the industry's fault - it's gamers. The market's bigger than it has ever been. Gaming aint a past time for us nerds anymore, everyone and quite literally their mom games, whether its Candy Crush, Call of Duty or even those shitty p2w mobile games that are the rage these days ( Name whichever you want honestly. ) companies are just painting with a large brush so to speak. I can't really blame them, it's business. Gotta make money bruh.

Holy shit! I had and played through ''Who shot johnny rock'' as a kid on a dvd player. You use the keypad to move the crosshair jerkily, and then OK to fire. What happened was the ESRB, before then congress about lost its shit over Lethal Enforcers and Night Trap, even though SEGA clearly had a rating system, I guess it just wasn't satisfactory enough to keep kids away from 'violent' video games... Stuff like Gears of War when you shoot a man like thirty times until he's crawling on the floor in his own blood, then you fucking stomp on his head and splatter his brains over the pavement. You can play stuff like Duke Nukem Forever which *literally* has women being raped by Aliens, bared breasts and all. (No va-jayjay though so, it's k.) And if you're willing to go the indie route then the limit truly is your imagination. Legend of Queen Opala if you want a hentai twist to a Final Fantasy game, you've got Monster Rancher for breeding half humans...Corruption of Champions.
