You can really tell that the creators of this game fell in love with their own character. There are so many unnecessary animations and visuals that ultimately add to the experience and make the game that much more charming. This is something I feel Yooka Laylee lacked in the end.

First Rock of Ages, then Cuphead and now this... so many great games lately, each with its own charm. What a treat! Seriously, everything in this game is so freaking adorable, from the character interations up to the soundtrack. Some of the voice lines may sound a bit weird for the charaters at first (mostly for the cat, if it's a female then it kinda fits) but it's fine. The special attacks seem really fun to use and the story is wacky enough with time travel and everything else. Glad to hear that we are going to see more of it!

The locations and atmosphere of the game give me real Spyro vibes... like, the third Spyro entry on the PS1. But the controls are giving me real Mario Sunshine vibes from the momentum and the bouncy way the character moves. Which is good, because in terms of collectathon platformers, both of those are games I see as some of the best. I liked Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie and enjoyed them, but those two I replayed far less than the Spyro series and Mario Sunshine. I think I might pick this up, thanks Vin for spotlighting this, and Vappy for uploading the stream!

If you still haven't found a way to turn off the depth of field, you can do it in the config file "HatInTimeSystemSettings.ini". It's towards the top and says DepthOfField=True. Just change it to False. I think the game looks a lot better with it off.

funny enough, The Freedom was also the first paint job I unlocked. This game is realy amazing. Its short and sweet and doesnt overstay its welcome. Every world feels unique and has its own gimmick going on (first world is nice tutorial world with colourfull visuals, feels fun to just explore and do random stuff, makes use of all the hats you will get later on, other worlds are having their own look & feel without spoilering too much) and moving around feels good. Its fun and worth the high pricetag (for an indie game, but doesnt feel like one. Has a high amount of polish to it and a lot of fluff that gives the game some charm) I loved my 13 hours with the game.

Two years later and the switch version is finally here. I bought it day one -even with all it's texture glitches and lack of Nyakuza-, but it's quickly become one of my favorite switch games. If any part of these streams looked fun, and you havent already, buy the game. It's definitely worth it.

Kickstarter games get a lot of undeserved shit. Some turn out bad, and those get all of the attention and media circus. Meanwhile, actual good games coming out of Kickstarter don't get as much coverage because there's nothing to hate on. Also, Yooka-Laylee isn't even a bad game... It has its flaws and think A Hat in Time is much better, but I enjoyed YL for what it is. People really were grasping at any reason to hate on that game.
