they had fixed it by the time the SNES game released, but the first version of Dennis the Menace (for Amiga?) was unwinnable because they DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO PROGRAM THE FINAL BOSS AND ENDING, so they just put a gap that you couldn''t jump in the final stage.

Something about Captain Novolin makes me sad. I appreciate the intention behind the game, I can understand what they were going for. But the game is just bad. The superhero character has no special powers or anyhing that makes him likeable and the game isn't fun at all. It's a dud, and I feel sorry for any kid with diabetes that had to endure Captain Novolin. :/

Here's what I have pieced together based on what Vinny has played: In order to at least be decent or acceptable, a tie-in game should try to adapt the material it's based on. A bad game will instead use that media as a theme with generic, barely thought out level design.

It almost seems like there's a trend with these bad SNES games. Character has to avoid enemies but can't attack. That or in the case of Captain Novolin being kinda useless. Either way I did very much enjoy watching. Also I really enjoy the Dracula movie too, I just wish the game could have been as equally good.

I played a lot of that Dennis the Menace game as a kid, and I only ever got to the second level, which iirc was a sewer level and I couldn't beat it. Fun fact: Dennis the Menace was released for the Commodore Amiga, but they never actually finished the game on that platform before they had to ship it. There's a bottomless pit later in the SNES version that's rather trivial to cross because there's a floating platform to bridge it, and they removed the platform in the Amiga version because nothing after that stage existed. The ledge is too far to jump, but it's close enough that it looks doable, because there's a lot of those types of "last moment jumps" in this game. That's not even the only time they pulled that stunt either: in one of the Robocop games (i want to say it was the C64 version of the first game), one of the levels has an impossible time limit because, again, there isn't a playable game after that level.

I had a hell of a flashback when I saw Vin dig out Double Dragon V. I completely forgot about it for two decades, but I definitely used to play that as a little kiddo.
