So interesting story behind I Hate You. It used to have a different version (actually there were two previous versions, but the only public one was a fanmade recreation of the original,) then the version Vinny is seen playing was made as a newer recreation, minus the potential malware of the original version. There was very little information given when the original I Hate You game surfaced. The original has several differences, such as the Luigi fight just being a short cutscene, the drowned corpses not moving, and most of all, the original had several loud jumpscares linked to particular events, such as retrieving the death mushroom, completing the game, and some others I can't recall the specifics to.

Yeah I saw that one and at first thought maybe there was a later post-2000 Mario game that I wasn't aware of (I grew up a Sega and Sonic kid and didn't get into SMB and SMW until relatively recently) that Vinny had decided to show off on a whim or something because it looked shockingly good for a SMW hack but then it occurred to me that anything Nintendo made from 2000 onwards would have been in a widescreen aspect ratio of some kind and this wasn't, and while vanilla SMW has always been a good looking game and the original graphics hold up remarkably well today I just felt really impressed with how whoever developed that hack made it look so nice that I was initially fooled into believing it was built on tech that was ten years more recent or more than it actually was.
