Uber Police Spoilers below! At the end of DQ11, the Luminary is bestowed the title of Erdrick (or Loto in Japanese), which is given to the greatest warriors in the land. Then the epilogue jumps into the future with a woman closing a storybook she was reading, that story being DQ11, before going to wake up her son. That's the beginning of DQ3, and that boy ends up becoming the next Erdrick. In fact, SSBU kinda spoils this twist if you pay attention. Did you notice that Erdrick and the Luminary have the same shield, with “LOTO” written on it?

It's an old game series that didn't get that much attention because it was mostly released for the Sega Saturn, kinda rail shooter-ish at first but evolved into an RPG, all about battles on sky dragons. It isn't the most well-known game but it's pretty beloved; some people think one of the sequels, Panzer Dragoon Saga, is one of the best games ever made. It's been dormant for years, so a lot of fans are really excited to see the series return.
