Rule of thumb I always use for the Nordic countries. If they use "Ø" it's Denmark or Norway. If they use "Ö" it's Sweden or Finland.

Another rule of thumb: Denmark is almost completely flat, and Norway is nothing but mountains.

Though you could also very well be placed in southeastern Norway (where, among other places, the capital Oslo lies), which is quite flat relative to much of the country. The place names Vinny encounters here has another good rule of thumb: the suffix -øy, meaning "island", is quite common in Norway and does not exist in Denmark. (they prefer "-ø") If you find a sign pointing to a location ending in or containing -øy, you're in Norway.

We are never forced to learn about world geography again unless you choose to take classes pertaining to geography or work in a job field where knowledge of world geography is required.

here's a cheat sheet for team white boys: - katakana is a japanese script filled with simple, angular characters with a few gentle curves; this is like "reverse romanization" used to convey foreign words' pronunciation (e.g. companies, someone's name, etc). looks like this: カタカナ - hiragana is slightly more complex and much curlier. this is a native japanese script considered a "woman's" writing form. looks like this: なんだい - hanzi or kanji is, well, han zi (chinese characters). these are traditional chinese characters lifted straight from chinese, lol. these tend to be tightly compacted and much more condensed than both katakana and hiragana; as such, these are used to convey more specific ideas in one character (and yes I am so jealous of chinese twitter). looks like this: 冠龍五彩 - hangul, korean writing, is often confused for these scripts too despite being invented completely seperately and without any chinese or japanese influence. (it's actually pretty interesting even if you're not into that kinda stuff normally.) hangul characters are often divided into two to four neatly compartmentalized, geometrically symmetrical or otherwise balanced sections, and each of these sections indicate how to position your lips, tongue, etc. to pronounce each character. looks like this: 한글 personally I find hiragana a lot rounder than hangul, but hangul uses a lot more ovals and circles than hiragana does, afaik. also I am not a professional linguist, just a certified fuzhoufunny, so pls no bully for wrong I am trying but never learned formally (insert the sad poop emoji that was wrongly rejected by the unicode council)

I mean, it's not scummy to charge for something that you dump money in and are operating at a loss because most people use it for free, since you can do a lot more with the API than the average joe can in Maps But I have to say that the pricing for the Maps APIs is prohibitive at best and at worst an outright scam
