You know, for as much as 4chan has changed over the recent years, in many ways for the worse, there's still many people who are just seriously into a hobby or niche interest for the love of it, and they still to this day create by themselves, and help others develop, just for the pure passion of it, and I think that's great.

Things which I think have made it less fun over the years is how it attracts more and more attention, from less and less interesting and fun people. More and more you see annoying assholes who look at 4chan primarily as a platform for driving whatever social change they desire, online activists and people looking to advertise whatever virtues they hold, leading to a lot of worthless performative 'discussion' and "personal army" rallying, along with (in more recent years) all the shilling by corporations, government groups, and organized group efforts by the worst of the worst of the previously mentioned online activists (though some people just put organized effort into being a fucking cunt because they enjoy being a fucking cunt, without any kind of agenda). If you noticed how the atmosphere on the internet overall grew a lot more tense with the 2016 American elections, that effect was very pronounced on 4chan, and by far has had the worst effect on the website than anything else in its history, worse than Project Chanology, worse than GamerGate, and I say that as someone who sympathizes with many sentiments commonly expressed in those movements.

Wait, i felt like i have read this storyline before. Definitely not a Junji Ito's work but it's eeriely similar I think the stalker in that story i mentioned did die in pipe, but often the stalked victim would feel uncomfortable around the kitchen sink. It's almost as if someone was watching her through the sink hole. The said stalker is also blackmailing the victim lady with her 'suggestive' pictures captured by him. Cool story, i wish i could find it again

Fun Fact since it’s spooky month: In the 90’s, there was a series of games called Madou Monogatari, a RPG series about a young magician whose name is Arle. The games contained disturbing elements such as when Schezo(a dark magician, bad with words and described as a pervert) is decapitated(only in the PC-9801 version), but he is still able to fight due to his magic, or when Arle’s kindergarten classmates’ faces melt. Most of the characters would then go on to continue their stories and adventures in Puyo Puyo, a spin-off series that is still around today. Other characters have stories or traits that could be perceived as disturbing or creepy by some, like Rulue being in love with Dark Prince(Satan in Japan), and Dark Prince being in love with Arle, or how in 20th Anniversary, Lemres goes into a dangerous withdrawal without sweets, and how Feli uses his withdrawal to her advantage, where she talks about doing anything she pleases with him, like going on a date, but it soon seems she wants much worse as she then attempts to force Lemres to eat a cake filled with salt, which would’ve likely made his withdrawal much worse. The games mainly remained in Japan and most still do, but there are a few games released worldwide and localized.

Yup, only the PC-98 games were like that though AFAIK - except for the melting kids, they stay the same in most ports for some reason. The other ports were generally much tamer and are fan-translated (probably because PC-98 is not well-known in the West).
