What impresses me the most is how Kaze was able to get full quality 3D World music into an N64 hack. How's that even possible?

A lot of Nintendo 64 games used the MIDI standard for real time music alteration. MIDI as a container format works in a way where you can also embed full PCM tracks in playback, since it can't really tell the difference between a sample of say, a drum snare, and a full song. It only knows the timeline of the playback, velocity, pitch, panning, and modulation of the PCM file. Without filesize limits, it's pretty easy.

@@VulpesHilarianus yep exactly this! sometimes i use this technique even in my big hack though, just to save on processing power on decompressing the midi sm64 music. it generated pretty big files, but its not THAT restrictive. you can put around 3 hours of music into a 64MB cartridge like that.

@@KazeClips If I remember correctly it was this exact method that was used for the first two Extreme G games on the Nintendo 64 for certain songs like Highway 99 and Anville. It's a technique devs picked up from the Commodore Amiga's demo scene. So it has a long history of being used.

Even Kaze himself likes to joke around and introduce himself as both “kaze” and “kah-zay”. One thing to note is that Kaze is a Japanese word that means “wind”. If he’s using the Japanese word, it is indeed pronounced “Kah-zay”

I watched Apocalypse Now before reading Heart of Darkness. Then after. Then I read Heart of Darkness again after all that. Marlon Brando's acting in Apocalypse Now wasn't great because he was some kind of idiot savant that could show up wasted and just ad lib the character of Kurtz, it was great because Brando was prey to his success in a way shockingly similar to Kurtz. "The horror!" truly put a pin in Brando's journey in the dreadful mires of Hollywood. What I mean by this is you're absolutely right and putting an actor on a pedestal is no less destructive than heralding an explorer as some kind of pagan god. Maybe less people get killed, but that's it.

there is a perfect excuse, they only *wanted* it to be a "perfect" emulation of how it originally ran. just like the other 2 games in the collection. Sunshine has a lot of oddities that werent fixed from the original and it also doesnt run at 60fps either. if they had called it an HD Collection then i would start throwing questions of quality around.
