Shame Vinny didn't give Time Slip the additional few seconds to see what the game's about. Basically each minute or so, a past self of the snail is created which repeats all moves the original snail has made. It's required to complete the puzzles in the stages. The tricky part is that colliding with your past self costs you a life. It's a very fun and unique game, especially considering it's a homebrew.

Time Slip and Clone need remakes or recreates quick...its almost 2123 AD or 2023 AD (honestly with today's calendars who can you really trust) !? I once read that we actually have to add ten thousand or a hundred thousand years to our current year to even begin to catch up to the historical past.

"You know what's nauseating? The screen shaking" Yup, that's just how PS1 was since it didn't have a Z-Buffer to keep terrain smooth and solid. In most PS1 games, hard floors would move like the ocean just by rotating the camera or moving around!

Like... Did Vinny realise most of these games were legit made by lone bedroom coders in the mid 90s? He goes through this whole thing like it's a stanky Sunday stream collection, but lot of these games were super impressive for their time.

Holy snap, I remember Terra Incognita. I don't know why. Maybe I had a demo disc with it on. AND THE HAUNTED MAZE GAME! What the hell? My sisters and I would often call it the "Sausage Zombie game" on account that the enemies act likes zombies and look like their limbs are made out of sausages. This stream has become oddly nostalgic for me.

Aw, he didn't realize what was going on in Time Slip, every time that translation happened, his previous actions repeated itself as another snail, so that gate that kept closing, he was supposed to stay on it and then have the other snail repeat that so he could walk through as the gate was open, it's actually a pretty clever and fun game!

I played a lot of these Net Yaroze games as a kid, since they tended to bundle them on demo discs for the Official Playstation Magazine here in the UK. I'm not gonna stick up for all the games in this collection, but it's a shame that the rapid-fire approach to this stream meant Vinny couldn't give some of them a fair shake. Time Slip actually has a pretty clever mechanic to it, if you can look past the weird aesthetics.
@SteeScribbles

I'm going to assume there was a strict time-frame for this stream, as it was pretty late in the night. Can definitely vouch for Time Slip as it was an impressive game, but I'm going to assume that because of some emulation issues, there was sound problems in some games.

I know right? Totally likewise, hell I recall there were even two versions of it. One older, with plain featureless walls, and a later version with storefronts which made it look like you were in a mall or shopping center. Too bad Vinny didn't have the time to explore it further and figure out that you had to lead the children to the middle, and that you could turn the ghosts into edible fruit with one of the powerups. Still got those demodiscs. They are a fantastic source of nostalgia

I was hoping that one of my homebrews get featured but it looks like Vinny's friend only gave him the Net Yaroze collection. There's actually more PSX homebrew outside the ones made by the Net Yaroze community but I doubt Vinny's going to do another one of these featuring those games and I think he's had enough with this collection.

You made homebrews? Nice. What were the names?
@lameguy64
@lameguy64 7 жыл бұрын
So far, the only major homebrew I've released is Marilyn in the Magic World which was a fan-game featuring someone's OC as the main character which I only worked on in 2013-2014 before I got tired of the project. You can find my game in the psxdev website or in the PSX homebrews category in theisozone (but I have a feeling the latter has an older version of the game which had an XA audio bug on real hardware). I did not make the game with the Net Yaroze kit as it is pretty lame compared to the SDK proper developers had capability-wise. From what I've read, you cannot do FMV movie playback, XA audio and creating ISOs of your own game projects with Net Yaroze, most likely to prevent developers from picking up Net Yarozes as a cheap alternative to the expensive development boards such as the DTL-H2000 or H2500 or the green/blue DebugStation units.
@LC-DDM
@LC-DDM 7 жыл бұрын
That might've been why it hasn't been on any compilation, yet. That being said, I wouldn't mind seeing some footage of that. I didn't even know you couldn't do those things with the Net Yaroze Kit! Sounds like the potential is there for some serious fun stuff.
@lameguy64

I found a download, but it doesn't have all the games in this video. I think there are some other games that weren't on the ISO VInny was using though. Be careful though, the download link on the website redirects you to one of though dodgy-looking file share sites. Might wanna scan for malware or whatever ofter you download it. Anyway, here's the link: www.theisozone.com/downloads/playstation/psx-homebrew/sony-net-yaroze-homebrew-collection/

I found an ISO that has hundreds more of these games you can play, and they all come in a fancy little menu: www.mediafire.com/download/ve8kz2fl3kiqs88/ny2014.rar

+SorachiJirachi You're an absolute star, m80, thanks for this. I had the 2012 collection, and I didn't even know there was a further updated version. These are relics of a bygone era, for sure. Did you know Gravitation got a Steam release? It's re-branded as Super Grav now.

The Net Yaroze. I've read just a little bit about this concept, many years ago. Seems that Sony was trying to encourage the original Indie gaming waves by creating a special PS console for game development. Wasn't cheap, either. I've wondered if it really ever created anything worthy or was ever anyone's magnum opus into the world of game making. Erm...of what I've seen so far...there's no substitute for game programming schools...so it seems.

Well, from what I've seen, I know Time Slip got a release of its own on the XBLive Arcade, and the PC. And the guy who made Gravitation created a new and improved Steam release, titled 'Super Grav'!
