The aerospace engineering joke is actually really clever. Like, there are some games that have an esoteric side quest that you're expected to learn to complete it, usually something like music theory or some obscure chemical reaction to activate (use the acetone to remove the superglue from the plastic casing to unlock the key inside, instead of just smashing it open on the concrete floor). It's that taken to the extreme.

@@JacobKinsley Well, the original manuals (in Gen 3 where they did this) had a Braille chart to help you decode it, so provided you'd got a new copy with the manual intact, you weren't being _completely_ left on your own... @vsauce I think I solved the achiles side quest, he mentions something about never reaching the tortoise and only getting infinitely cloder, and ditty said he would look for someone who could help. In the maths class the lady says something about a series of a fraction over minus 1 or something (which I think means getting 9/10ths closer in the case of achiles) will eventually converge at a certain number. I guess it would converge to 1 in the case of 9/10ths since a theoretically infinite number of 9/10ths would be so close to 1 there'd be an infinite number of 9s after the '9.'. Try talking to achiles and you might have a dialog option to explain it to him. Wow, Holy crap, I think I learned actual mathematics from a dumb meme game.

So I'm neurodivergent, and it's affected my ability throughout life. Whether its school, or even just working a normal job. I've met a handful of other neurodivergent people who reclaim that word within personal spaces, and use it on theirselves in a positive, reaffirming form. I've also met ND people who loathe the word, and cut off ties with people who use it at all. I think there's definitely a conversation to be had around that word. I mean, I'm definitely glad its usage as a slur has shrunk, even if only a little. To be honest, I've been called that word as recently as two months ago at my current job, precisely because I was slow with something a customer needed. They didn't know I was ND, but it honestly did take me aback. I absolutely think its in the game's right to talk about whatever is on the creator's mind. Its their work. I personally like it overall, and I'm not losing my head over the duck segment. I mean, chances are it was written almost a decade ago. And it not having that bit would not have solved ableism, lol. But there absolutely is a conversation to be had here. Not to get rid of these words, or something silly like that, but its good to talk about why it can be hurtful. I mean, Vinny used to use that slur all the time, and I can only assume he stopped because he came to understand the context. Not because he was silenced, or anything.

I'm pretty sure all of the animals are there specifically to make fun of their respective issues, underscoring them as "unnatural" by juxtaposing them with nature. The lion in particular is a blatant mockery - not only does he dress like an idiot, but some vegans actually do want to breed vegan big cats and eliminate all carnivorous species from the earth. Since this game was in development for so many years - starting before the social media era and ending after - I think it's likely that earlier versions of the quest were far more scathing and the developer toned the script down partway through. But I guess he overlooked the duck.

Usually ends up taking the final product forever to come out.

It’s just that the next big update was first announced at around 2016, and it only got a proper teaser trailer this year. RobTob admitted that the main reason it’s taking so long is because he just keeps adding more and more to the update, and he said he fell into this loop of working, feeling bad the update is taking so long, wanting to add even more to compensate for the amount of time it’s taking, so on and so forth.

I was genuinely surprised at how deep this went with Doe's story. It actually made me happy that it was handled so well and showed 🏳️‍⚧️ representation in a positive light. A** and his depression hit pretty deep also, very relatable. Lion being a hipster vegan was hilarious. 😏 I only wish Duck didn't use "that" word, that was a huge miss.
