@braydenleaderofthetirkins1143

Well, Miyamoto told Rare to change this one into a Star Fox game since they knew that Rare was going to Microsoft, so they wanted their last IP to be a Nintendo franchise so Microsoft could not take ownership of the game. This game was meant to push the boundaries of the N64, and people were agog when they saw this game at E3.

First ten minutes of Dinosaur Planet feels like it was written by AI Dungeon. Krystal is flying on a pterodactyl mentioning a wizard and a floating mountain, and all of a sudden a flying ship with a living dinosaur head shows up, a giant lizard man busts through a door, makes some threats, grabs a cage and is struck by lightning, screams in pain but then laughs and teleports away. Are we just not even gonna talk about that whole incoherent sequence?

The fact that we have a build of Dinosaur Planet on hand and people are working on reverse engineer into a more playable form soon is kind of a miracle. A lot of what Vinny played on stream is very close what was polished for Star Fox Adventures but there's charming the way it plays and looks thru the N64 hardware. The fact that it was near complete anyway kind of makes me wish they finished what they had and released it on both systems, even with the major performance differences.

Japan doesn't really have christianity outside of small pockets like Nagasaki, so it's seen in the same mystic light westerners see eastern religion/philosophy over there... but they also don't have evangelical Shintoists, so unfortunately they felt the need to change that shit when they localized it. Ironically, a lot of christian zoomers and zoomer converts (myself included) find stuff like the religion in Dragon Quest and Christian elements in Zelda to be cool rather than "sinful". At least CV didn't change anything... until they let a neckbeard fedora write the anime 🙄

@OtakuUnitedStudio
@OtakuUnitedStudio 3 жыл бұрын
@@warbossgegguz679 It's less they felt like they needed to change it when they localized it than it is that Miyamoto in particular decided to take the series in a different direction. Christianity was the de facto intended religion up until about halfway into the development of A Link to the Past, and there is a picture of Link kneeling in front of a crucifix used as promo art for it that slipped through. Ocarina of Time likely just used a generic texture for the gravestones that got replaced when the stones themselves got redesigned. They were likely never intended to be the final design, unless it's a holdover from when OOT was going to be a recon reimagining of Zelda 2.

rare has a whole smorgasbord of games at different dev builds due to the consoles they were being developed for swapping so many times. for example kameo was produced for the n64, then the gamecube, switched over to xbox because microsoft, and then finally got reworked to be a xbox360 launch title. dinosaur planet is such an amazing leak but i cant imagine just how many different builds they have of games for all sorts of consoles. hope we get to see more of them one day.

it was the microsoft buyout that really hindered it imo. it was originally a pokemon-like monster rancher game where you grew and trained the elemental dudes but microsoft wanted it to be an action beat-em-up, and then pushed for rare to have it released alongside the 360. not a 100% accurate recounting of its dev history but it's the gist of it

I'm glad that we finally have Dinosaur Planet, and I'm hoping the long term sees fan content (and prior works) continue the marriage between the two. Maybe we'll see a day where the narrative issues of DP and the gameplay issues of SFA fixed into a cohesive game. After all, I can understand the predicament of this game's development and the likely outcome if it had stayed on the N64. The transition to the Gamecube and franchise was probably made by Rare Higher-ups to keep the company afloat, but as time would have it Nintendo forgot to update the brand agreement. Overall this game was the victim of time and place leading to a rushed final release; only if we had gotten the SFA beta. I'll leave the future of both series up to passionate fans, and maybe we can get something that surpasses the vision Rare had.

It's simple and cute. not cute in the way that people have come to think about krystal, but like... cute in that it'd make a good plush toy, or that she'd be fun to draw. I do understand how it is a very bad fit for the Star Fox series and I agree it would have been better as its own Dinosaur Planet game, and the final game has some obnoxious elements such as some frustrating mini games and backtracking, but man the GameCube version looks so pretty, much nicer graphics than the N64 honestly, as well as the lovely music by David Wise

1:29:12 I'm genuinely curious about this. How many of us have played a childhood game several times after... You know, being a child, yet retained 'nostalgia'? There are games that used to be that way for me, but I've played them many times over the years. So while I still do have special memories affiliated with the game and all that, it doesn't give me that patented "nostalgia feeling" that you normally would get. I guess that Vinny hasn't played the original Ocarina of Time in a long, long time to still be nostalgic about it, though.

So, even if they were able to get the same vocal talent, they'd need to re-record or at least remaster everything so that the quality was consistent They didn't, because the game didn't change enough to warrant it, or they lacked the time/money to do so

@@ShenDoodles Jerma's fanbase is _riiiight_ on the verge of turning toxic, imo. They're already taking heat for overusing the "when the imposter is sus" meme, but if you watch his streams...idk, they give me this weird, unnecessarily antagonistic feeling. Poking fun at Jerma has always been part of the fun, but lately, they've been taking that role way too seriously, and sometimes they overstep in a way that ruins the humor. For instance, watch the 2ndJerma House Flipper highlight video that introduces the _GAS_ joke. (It's the title of the video, you can't miss it.) Two-thirds of the way through, Jerma takes up a challenge from chat to play Deal Or No Deal and have his winnings taken off The Debt (which is a whole nother YT comment essay worth of weirdness sometimes). Jerma wins a decent amount on the first round, then goes "double-or-nothing" on a second play and completely invalidates it, and that's really funny. He has a _thing_ with gambling, he knows it, chat knows it, but this was a web version of the game with no real risk or investment, so in the end it's all in good fun. Then afterward, someone tells him something along the lines of "post 'I have a big dumpy' on Twitter to nullify the Deal Or No Deal losses, or the debt is doubled!" You can tell that even Jerma is kinda weirded out by this one; after reading it out loud, he quickly and quietly says that he's not opening Twitter just to embarrass himself, and moves on. Think about it. Where the hell did this come from? The Debt doesn't even work like that. You can't just declare that he'll be penalized for not doing something he didn't agree to beforehand. Where's the fun in that? Everyone was having a good time, and then this dude came in and pushed it a little too far and spoiled the moment. I guess what I'm saying is, Jerma's adversarial relationship with his chat is a double-edged sword. On one hand, Jerma _is_ often hyperbolic, and he tends to make snap decisions that could bite him in the ass later on, and Chat getting to call him out and make him do what he promised to do usually makes for a pretty good straight-man-funny-man routine. On the other hand, sometimes Chat takes that role too seriously, and there's a fine line with that kind of comedic relationship where you have to avoid going too far, because then it's less "haha we made the monkey dance by dancing along" and more "dance or you get the shock prod." And this is just one particular problem they have; I'm not going into them overusing the "sus" meme or telling other streamers who aren't in on the joke to "sing the raid/subscribe/new-viewer song." Okay thank you for reading my Jerma essay. I'm the giant rat, coffee cheetos chicken, AA EE OO, etc. Please have a nice day.

Dinosaur Planet would’ve been so amazing even without the Starfox characters, Miyamoto was slick In realizing the inspiration it took from Zelda and decided to make it Starfox Adventures, but in exchange it probably wouldn’t have got much recognition due to not having the Starfox Brand and probably would’ve fallen into obscurity, they made great use of the GameCube’s power in the world and environments, even Fox and Krystal’s Fur.
