Thanks so much for playing this! Genuinely surreal seeing something I had a huge part in making up on stream like this. This was originally a solo project for me, trying to learn how to mod the game, but real life stuff got in the way and I hit some roadblocks which shelved the mod. Kekulism reached out to me about it, and with her help, it became 1000x better than I could ever make it! So a hugethank you to her, my friend Amtrax (who i met before i learned he was fucking ROCHE lmao), and all of the other artists here. I've only played a few runs, so I'm not good enough yet to understand why High Card would be worth running as your main strategy

I think it might be because it's so easy to draw. Unlike with something like a Flush, where you often have to discard potentially multiple times to get the hand you're aiming for, a High Card is almost always available to you, especially if you buff your cards a ton, making it a (usually) very low risk strategy, with potential for insane returns if you play it out correctly.

High card mostly pays off with two strategies I can think of. There’s DNA/Baron/Mime, where you make your entire deck into kings, and your in-hand effects are the bulk of your scoring. And there’s Photograph/Hanging Chad with a deck of mostly face cards. The first one is the basis of many high score runs, especially with Blueprints and Brainstorms. The second one is easier to put together, since the Jokers are less rare. But with both, you need to get Plutos as much as you can, to boost the starting mult.
