The weight cutting rule in Olympics is to force athletes to 1. fight close to their natural weight class or; 2. atleast transition gradually to the lower weight class. For instance, the gold medal winner in Vinesh's category used to compete in the same higher weight category as her (56 kg, if I remember well), but she spent two years prior to the Olympics to get accustomed to the 50 kg weight cut.

Both in terms of per athlete spend in preparing for Olympics and earning opportunities post medals, Indian Olympians are better off than most of their western counterparts. Vineesh has three personal support staff - go check which other wrestler had a personal coach, nutritionist and physio, in the village with them? Most western athletes have to find a profession - they cannot live their lives off Olympic performance.
