This is a great video, pastor. The Vineyard churches have been very divisive in the local evangelical churches in my community.

That’s how the one was that we grew up going to. Very judgmental towards surrounding churches and were doggedly convinced they were the only ones that were “operating in power” and “in the Spirit”, etc. etc.

I attended the Vineyard in Anaheim during the late 1980s and early 1990s under John Wimber, and then I left because I moved across the country. What you have shared in this video is spot on. One of the reasons why I couldn't return to a Vineyard church is because after John Wimber died, the Vineyard decided to allow for women pastors. BTW, John Wimber himself did not want to allow for women pastors, at least that I know of. If you think about it, when your belief is experience centered, there is not much reason to go to church since you can re-create the "experience" at home.

I was about to make Vinyard church my home church but realized it was not for me. The pastor expects people to be perfect in order to lead there, they speak in tongues, people act like fools rolling on the ground. I’m so glad I left. Unfortunately I found a good church that I love but it’s too far to travel to. 😞

@@mariahconklin4150 hopefully you find a good place to go to that is near you. We grew up in a vineyard church in our town and as a kid i remember being genuinely frightened and homesick being there. Lots of immensely loud repetitive music with people making animal sounds and screaming and laughing for long periods of time. Also, most people were not familiar with the scriptures, felt like we had “moved on” from them in maturity, and continued to walk in much judgment towards surrounding churches that didn’t subscribe to our exact doctrines on healing.

Your interpretation of the mission statement is so off. It would be strong if you had checked your views in a conversation with a Vineyard pastor. It is so easy from outside to give opinions without even knowing whats the case. I dont recognize a lot of the things you say. Really to bad if people who follow Jesus choose to go and comment on each other.

What exactly do you disagree with regarding my reading of the mission statement? I just read the words according to their plain sense. If they have to be interpreted by a member then they're not clear and should be tightened up to avoid this sort of confusion.

Vineyard is great, they helped me become an atheist. That's a great beard, btw. Anyway, I wasted a lot of years at the Anaheim (the mother) church --- even got on stage once with John Wimber when he was hyping some B.S. thing called "words of knowledge." What's really funny, listening to people bash the idiots at the Vineyard, is that it's all subjective anyway since nobody knows what the original documents actually said --- all that exists today are copies of copies of copies of copies of copies of copies....so all this "explaining" is just your own mental masturbation --- you're just picking out what you like out of the Bible and ignoring the stuff you don't like, i.e. making up your own subjective beliefs. It's both funny and sad.
